Supercharger + automatic = BOOM?

Blake, I would put my daughter in Sean Roe's hands without any qualms...I think we have three providers in this country that I feel the same about...Roe, Boomer and while I have never worked with them...DC Performance...these people understand that their future is on the line with each and every job...I dream about the three of them coming together in a virtual organization so that they could have their own expertise and market, but be able to work on installs from the others. With close communication and mutual respect...we could have a perfect world in all kinds of ways.

We might be able to add Underground to that list too...I am just not familiar with them...

You will be sick, love sick...it's 4:54 am I just went out to peek at the Roe on the top of my engine...I wanted to start it, but was afraid my 84 year old Mother would ground me if I did.

Go for it, you will never, ever regret it.

"Whoop, whooop, whoooop, whoooooooooop!"

Dude -

Ever since you posted the pics of your engine and the dyno sheet, along with your explanation of how it feels and sounds, you've got my wheels turning - A LOT.

I'm not sure if it's good or bad, but Thanks. I think?

The Good:
It's Badass
The Sound.
The Power.
The Look
It's Badass:D
Waaay cheaper than the damn Viper I'd like to buy, and hardly ever drive.

The Bad:
Virtually no Traction in boost w/ stock tires.
Kiss the stock clutch goodbye.(Probably inevitable anyway:dontknow: )
For me - Trouble just waiting to happen. Though, as of now, I have no points on my license.;)
Always the possibility of engine/driveline problems w/ this much added power.
IF I decide to sell the truck (No, not considering it now, but who knows in the future?:dontknow: ), it'll be harder to sell with the SC installed IMO, and if I remove it and sell seperately I'd be lucky to get 1/2 of the original cost.

Years back I bought an Eaton Supercharger kit for my '93 Mustang Cobra. It was a mild system, and only $3,000. The car was a complete blast to drive afterwards, which was about equal to the ET/MPH I can run with my truck RIGHT NOW. I only put about 2,000 trouble free miles on it before I removed it and traded the car. Ended up selling the kit for $1,000.

I guess I just have this fear that with the SC, it'll have too much power and basically be a traction-less PITA on the street.

If you're cruising along in 2nd gear, and roll onto the throttle, will it smoke the tires, or is there at least some kind of traction?:dontknow:

Thanks.:)

Thanks for the compliments. Just a few observations...with the VEC II I have five "tunes". I can change on the fly, it takes three seconds. To be honest I have not wanted to remove the "Hot Rod" card. But this morning I put in the "tame tune" (stock, no meth, 91 Octane)...while it is still quick, it is my normal truck in all but two ways...1. It runs smoother than it ever has at low rpm (go figure???). 2. I know that there is a huge amount of boost available with a flick of the wrist (hot rod card), so I am very happy.

I guess the magic is that I have five different flashes for various situations...and can change in three or four seconds while I sit at a light in traffic.

Trucks with superchargers will be sold to people who want a truck with a supercharger. This is not a financial investment, it is an emotion. As FstJack just said a "disease". You want a hot ride, get the twin screw.

Traction: I'm not very experienced here. I plan to seek help from Boomer in a few weeks. When I roll it on in second, I am getting to the point that I know how fast to do it...at first I would break them loose several times before I got to third, then I found the touch...have no idea what to do in 1st...maybe I will forget about that gear.

You will need to be a little gentle in third too...sorry, just want you to be fully informed. Now if I put a full water bed in my truck bed maybe I could get the traction I need, and maybe I could also...well it's nice to have fantesies.

I'm sure the Paxton people and the turbo guys have the same issues, and they are learning to manage the wheel spin...I hope I learn too. But the truck was just loaded on a closed carrier along with my "Brick", and is enroute to Illinois...so the learning curve is suspended for a week or so...

Go for it man...NBT is getting his done now, he is a much more experienced racer than me...touch base with him or PM Jax Ram...he drove it on Saturday...they will be able to give you their perspectives.

Roy,

Do you need a VECII or is there another way?

No, there's no other way.... ;) dammit I wanna be the first Canadian S/C!!

I would never say never...if you wanted a Roe Supercharger without a VEC II, I'm sure that it could be done...but why would one want to sacrifice all of the flexibility and safety? You could have a truck with out brakes and only an on/off throttle too...but that would not be a truck it would be a solid fuel rocket.

Your question would best be posed to Dave at Roe...maybe you could manually control the meth, injectors, et. al. but...well maybe Deibs is right...NO, I don't think so...

Hehe, sorry I was trying to be sarcastic it doesn't come through well on the internet. But for the extra tiny tiny bit the VECII would cost (after you've spent roughly 8k Canadian) it makes no sense not to do it, plus the lost power!!!!!

Bah, it's +2°C Overcast. Light snow. From Tuesday overnight to Wednesday overnight we expect : close to 5 cm of snow.

Time to drop the puck.

I have to pick my Brother up from the Airport in Edmonton Wed. night, I was gonna take my Dad's truck but it could be so much more fun in the Dodge. ahhahhah.
