I just picked up a 05 about three weeks ago and already I am having big problems with the front end. Yesterday I took it to get aligned and the truck pulls very hard to the right where I can,t controll it. the first thing i thought was the frame nothing came back on the carfax report. I took it to a body shop and when he looked at it he said he doesn,t believe it was in any collision. The other thing I noticed was it looks like the upper controll arms where moved in the front and the back. You are able to see the marks from the washers where the controll where bolted down to where they are know. I need some help on this guys. I can,t taake this truck past 80 mph or I loose total controll of the truck.

Any vibration or does it just pull?
Was it doing this before you took it to get aligned if so did it get better or worse after?
Are the tires worn uneven?
Did you check or notice any heavy brake ware?
Did you get a print out of the alignment specs?

basically you need to find a quality alignment shop, period.

either the bolts have come loose and moved in the upper mounts, or whomever worked on the ttruck is not very knowledgable,

find an old timer, that has done it for years, that is your best bet bud.

other than that you should be fine, dont worry too much.

if you have any questions , just give me a ring, I can discuss it with you.

and try your best to allways get a printout of the alignment;)

Good alignment shop is a must but try the simple thing first, swap your front tires from the right side to the left. Not a tire rotation but just swap sides with the fronts. You may be really surprised.

BTW Welcome to the RBC

They've all given you good advice. But, do what Jack suggested first and see if that helps.

suspension

It did it before the alignment was done but not this bad. Today I am going to bring it to a body shop and I am having the frame measured. and after that they are taking it for another alignment. I already switched the tires around. They don,t think the frame is bent but I need to make sure. Oh ya I live in northeast PA.

Welcome! I live in Northwest Jersey so you are close to where i'm at...if you dont have any luck, let me know...there are some great shops around here. You'll get it right though, sounds like the truck maybe was lowered at one point :dontknow: and it wasn't put back the right way.

Sounds like my truck....I took it to get aligned a few weeks back bc it pulled to the right also....Got it aligned and it still pulls to the right, even worse than when I got it aligned....
Stinker said it may have something to do with the camber/caster set-up...give him a shout!

Jack it up and manually spin the tires watching the grooves in the tread. It could be a broken or shifted belt in the tire, very easy to detect if it is.

took it to the body shop today and the frame is dead nuts even. Sending it to another alignment shop on thursday people swear this place is the best so we will see what happens.

be sure to get a print out,

you should be close to zero camber passenger side
.5 degree drivers side camber

around 5.5 caster both sides

and about a 1/16th degree toe in

hey stinker I have the print out in front of me. my camber on the right is -0 06 my left is 0-01 my caster right front is 4*48 my left caster 4*18 my toe right side is 0*05 my toe left is 0*06 my cross camber is 0*07 my cross caster is -0*30 my total toe is 0*11

which is right left, right drivers? if so the caster is not far off but would like to see it a little closer

one question ........is the steering wheel centered going straight down the road , or if you hold it centered, does it vere to the right?

the steering wheel pulls verry heavily to the right when you are going down the road. But when I am stopped it is straight.

May sound like a stupid question, but do you think maybe your caliper is getting hot and hanging up? All the dodge trucks I have owned except the 10 so far. But all of them at one point did this and it was my caliper each time on the 03 it actually got so hot it started to disingrate the caliper and melted it to the rotor. But just a thought and a slight hang will pull that wheel out of your hand.

yes but if it was a caliper I would think that the steering wheel would never be straight. But i,m not sure.
