The world record truck, or the pace truck(s)?

I was referring to the Indy truck. I know they were not available to the public, but stranger things have happened.

The world truck I am sure will never be available. Whoever's got it aint letting it go.

The Indy truck is really cool. I love that auto in it. I bet those would be fun to drive.

There is all ready a 04 RC with a auto. My buddy in NC did all the work himself. He was selling the truck the last time i talked to him. He just wanted the auto to tow him boat to the lake.

I think, if you really want to go this route, the best way would be to find a wrecked QC... All the parts should be there for a switch. :dontknow:

.... Hell, if Kalani can change his RC to RIGHT-HAND DRIVE ( ), this shouldn't be that big of a deal! :)

My thoughts were maybe someone with a QC would want to do a transplant....trade my manual for their auto...........the trucks are basically the same other than length...just seems to me someone would have done this before....anyway the manual is fine if this proves to be a "cost more than it's worth" project..

I might talk with Shafi Keisler of Keisler Transmissions in Knoxville TN...they specialize in retro fits like putting modern 6-sp trans in older muscle cars...they have a 6sp 2006 Dodge Charger SRT8 they are testing....

I wonder if that truck will pop up for private sale down the road. Definately voted most valuable IMO.
My understanding was that the Pace Trucks (I heard there was more than one) were all destroyed after they were used.

there was one of these pace trucks at a mopar car show at the WPC museum last year. the hood was closed ,when i saw it was an auto, wasnt sure it was an srt-10

If that is true, that is very upsetting news.

Does not make sense that they would do something like that. On the interior pics of the cab, what is the three button thing to the left of the steering column? Maybe for lights?

Yes. They are for the flashing lights that the pace vehicles have.
Note the orange fog lamps. :)

Very good point Jake............if Kalani can make that switch, tranny swap looks much easier. Would be cool to put the lever on the floor though, not on the column.

As far as those pace trucks. Not sure if they can sell them as they usually arent given official vin numbers.............and I think they must have them to be officially sold as a streetable vehicle.

As far as VIN #'s go, I know you can get one for any type of vehicle. You get one from a wreck and have it transferred over. I know there are places you can do that. Let that be the hardest part about getting one of those rigs. :D

The truck that set the record was a 6-speed. I was able to not only look at, but also sat in it at a Chrysler function a couple of years ago.

Bill.

I would have to agree with Stanimal on the rude comments ---I personally have seen more than my share of post replies stating ( names withheld to protect the innocent),, sell your truck , park it ,by a prius or ford when asking questions about certain things---I look for good and positive input to my questions and what do I get --in my opinion ignorant answers from a couple members ----If you can't help then don't involve yourself with the discussion----joking is fine but not rude replies

IT SO FUNNY, I REMEMBER THIS GETTING BROUGHT UP A YEAR OR SO AGO. THE QC GUYS W/ AUTO WANTED STICK AND THE RC GUYS W/ STICK WANTED AUTO. PERSONALLY I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE AUTO, EASIER TO DRIVE, NO CLUTCH CRAP TO DEAL WITH JUST SMASH THAT PETAL TO THE METAL AND GO. BUT ON THE FLIP SIDE I LOVE BEING ABLE TO DOWNSHIFT AND WOT AT ANY GIVEN TIME IT IS NEEDED. " TO EACH THEIR OWN"

Hmm can anyone say Manu-matic???????? Chevy has this in their diesel trucks (and a lot of other car manufactuers have it in their vehicles), so i wonder if it would be possible to do this route instead? I guess it would take someone with a fair bit of money :)

Several months back, Boomer mentioned he was working on an automatic conversion. He was planning to put a Turbo400 with a gear Vender overdrive unit in a regular cab. That would be a great setup. Haven't heard if he is still working on the project or if it was put on the back burner.
