T56 Tranny Failures???

The new T-6060 is supposed to be much tougher, almost a direct replacement but you would have to shorten your driveshaft a couple of inches.:rock: :rock:

6060 is essentially the same as a T56, it has a built in circulating pump for lubricant cooling.

That is the manual trans that is in CTS V!!!

I'll bet it is priced pretty high...but I have heard nothing but raves about it on the CTS V forum....

Heard that a bunch of challenger guys are haveing problems, and I remember the camaro fellas were snapping output shafts. :dontknow:

hey brad. looks like i found a few tools online for removing that 5/6 gear. I think i might be even be able to make it.

that is definitely the hardest part. I used a big puller and made my own extensions to reach. also used a band clamp to make sure the claws wouldn't slip. also had my boss help with a tube to hold the puller while i turned the screw.

im thinking of using 2 long 15-16" bolts, parts of a steering wheel puller, and got find a custom piece to actually pull on the gear itself..

if you actually make that piece that wraps around that gear, i'll be amazed cuz i'm sure it'll take a bit of time. putting the 5/6 gear back on isn't fun either since its a press fit and not many presses will go that far down.

I dont know why im strongly looking into buy all the t56 tools, I think after we do brads I will also be pulling my down to freshen it up and fix my leaking viper slave. might start up a new trend round here as we are starting to expose the t56 weakness
