taking flight

Congrats Scoob! While I don't steer, I am very familiar with everything else!;) Just keep your head in the game, keep studying and enjoy!!!!:)

Flying is not for everybody...but, it is for those that are adventurous! My favorite part is flying through clouds and also flying at night! I used to get scared....and then I let my wife drive my truck!LOL!;)

Going above 2K would only put you in Class "C". Why would you not want to talk to either ATC or ALB TWR? I think it is a bad habit to get into. The more pratice the better you get. If the weather ever gets bad you don't want that to be the first time you try talking to ATC. I would make my students make all the radio calls. They struggle at first but that is the best way to learn. The only time I wouldn't is if the controler is very busy.

Congrats on flying.

As I was reading this post...I was reflecting on a flight with a qual'd PPC, a new 3P and me (That was it)....she was looking out the window while he and I were handling the radios, maps and flying! Made me snort a little bit!LOL!:D She's fun....but, I like challenges!

My LT. was not as receptive...for 6'5" and 240 lbs....he can be very soft....except for that day!:D:D:D

I can't get this page to load properly on the ship but it keeps 30 days worth of recordings. I would make my students go back and listen to how they sounded on the radios. http://www.liveatc.net/search/?icao=arb is for ARB but just go to http://www.liveatc.net to listen to airports all over the US.

he said we would do that later, because this was an intro flight.

optimus prime flys, haven't you seen the movies?

Only with a jet pack... Only autobot that flew was jetfire and the arialbots...

Yes, I have too much time...

i was never into the cartoons, just as with scooby doo, i love the movies and didn't follow the cartoons, because most were before my time.

i fly again at 3 today! only reason i'm flying in 1 hour blocks is because i'm going to school at TSTC here in waco.. and i'm catching on fast i've already got to the point where my teacher wants me to solo but i need the hours.... i cannot wait... hope fully by the end of the week i'll solo'd by then and start working on cross countrys!

I was going to start lessons this fall but now looks like I'll have to wait till the spring. Good luck! Keep us posted on your progress... I'm going to live vicariously through you until I can get started.

wonder if i am too old and too fat to join the ANG, i know i am too fat, but say i dropped 100lbs, is 27/28 too old?

I'm gonna go with a 100% NOPE! You are still within the age range, however, job opportunities are what might limit you.:dontknow:

the ang is not hiring?
i bet if i tried to go in, in two years, with my commercial pilots license it will make me look like a good candidate, need to lose weight for sure!

well, its been a while, but i went up again today. BAD NEWS........................................ i am still alive... bad for you anyhow.

today we worked on trim, something i had not done before. took me a while, instructor said i can easily overpower both him and the plane, gave a a 5 min lecture on how not to grab the controls and panic.

we went up to 4500 did some circles and then he landed it, touch and go to watch him do it, then i did it.

my first assisted landing. what a rush! saw some cool stuff as well. saw a glider riding the thermals below me. he kinda keep climbing and we had to move out of his way. before when we went up we only went to 2500, big diff between 2500 and 4500.

fun flight, 169 plus an hour on the ground. can't wait to do the next one.

How many lessons have you had? They had me land the thing on my 2nd instruction. Had some white knuckles going on for sure.

One of these days I'd love to finish it up, it's on my list.

I was talked into mine (sorta). I was coming in from the practice area and he kept telling me what to do. Next thing I knew, I was turning final, and looking at a runway quickly approaching.

guess i am lucky, the runway at SCH is huge, they do jets and c-130's there.
7,000ft, cant miss it very easy.

my instructor was 80, super old to be flying, but very good at teaching.
