The Last 2 QC's I had ran at about 200 on both oil temp and water temp. The new truck runs considerably cooler:dontknow: Does this sound correct?? Is there a difference with the 06 versus the 05?????:dontknow: :dontknow:

My 2006 oil and water temp runs at 170-180.

.

I seem to believe there is a variance from year to year. My 06 ran at around 200F before I changed the stat and PCM. After the change it dropped to 170 ALL THE TIME. My 05 ran at 200 regardless of stat and pcm swap. It will only drop to 170 on highway in 6th gear now.

its probably been moded.

I agree it most likely has a tune and colder T-Stat. Let it sit and idle after it is warmed up. If there is a tune in there the fans will come on and keep it below 200. If there is not a tune the temp will go up to 200. If there is a T-stat and it is cold out the temp will stay down around 170 when driving. 185 is the temp on the stock T-stat. Hope that helps answer the question.

It has a stainless exhaust, so it could possibly been modded??? What is the benefit of a 170 degree Thermostat ???:dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow:

makes it run cooler:dontknow:

but is cooler better??? I heard that optimum temp ( whatever that maybe and in our trucks stock case usually is 200) is that better :dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow:

Heat kills these motors. 170-180 is right where you wanna be

Cooler has been proven to increase HP....higher temps help control emissions....hence modern cars usually have 200+ stats.......look back at pre-70s cars...160 degree stats were common..

Hi, my truck runs 200 or even a shade over in traffic.
Is that OK coz it's only about 10c-12c here at the moment?

Where would I get a 170 stat from and would it sort this? or is everything fine already.
It doesn't use any water and seems fine but you do see a heat haze coming out of the hood scoop.

Cheers,Andrew.

i added in a bottle of redline's "water wetter" that plus a 170 thermostat and i could drive all day during a virginia summer and never get hotter than 185:rock:

I bet you have a flashed pcm in there. Check it and see if there is a non chrysler sticker on it. Definatly a 170` t stat for sure.

What rpm is reading when you shift full throttle into second gear?
