Geodriller did an excellent job nightshading my Recon LED's tail lights. They looked killer during the day, but at night you could see a little orange peel on the vht undercoat. A little texture on the edges of the clearcoat. Nothing to complain about, but again, i was bored... so i thought i would experiment.

First i Wetsand 1000-1500-2000-2500-3000, compound it, polish it, then 2 coats of mothers wax. It had a beautiful mirror finish, But i could still see the vht peel under it. So, i cleaned with paint prep.

I really wish i had taken pictures before and during. But i scuffed it up with 1000 grit, put 2 more coats of vht. Then sanded 1000-1500-2000 and put 10 thin coats of clear while lightly sanding with 2000 after the 5 and 8th coat.

Here is the picture of them now.

Sunday, i am going to Wetsand from 1000-3000, compound it, polish it, then wax her up again. Maybe ill have the truck washed up, and we can get some pictures of them installed. I have black halo projector fog lights on the way, and GTS Blackout Covers. If the covers dont look right, ill just order some recons. Its coming together!

It was alot of work, but when you see them on the truck in person they are incredible. They kinda draw your eye to them. It looks like they should have been made that way to begin with, but i dont think you could buy plastic with that finish.

Looks really great!

Would be cool with a how to if you feel you get the time over.

Thanks... I kinda included how to...

Wet sand 1000 grit, wipe with wax tar remover or paint prep. Spray thin coats of vht. Then put x number of coats of clear 15 minutes between coats. After 24 hours Wet sand 1000 1500 2000 2500 then rubbing compound, polish compound, then wax. You can prolly eliminate some steps. Go 1000 2000 2500 polish then wax
