Hate to ruin the fun...
He did NOT try to comit suicide, if he did, he would still be in the hospital. My rationale: if he consumed that many lortab/vicodin/hydrocodone (depends on what you know them as) Each one usually contains 500mg of tylenol/acetaminophen. When they drew blood from him, and ran his drug screen, they would have checked his tylenol level. If it came back as high as people are assuming, he would still be in the hospital receiving the 'antidote' for tylenol overdose (acetylcystine). Which is administered every 4 hours for 17-23 doses. The great thing about this drug, is that it a liquid that reeks of rotten eggs, so much when you drink it you taste eggs for hours. My dumbass wantted to see what it tasted like so i tried just a tad, and had the egg taste for hours....
