Last summer my truck was part of a terrible situation, involving my wife. As my wife purchased a can of brown fabric spray from Lowes and departed the building shaking the can, she opened the truck door and at the same time the can developed a tiny hole on the side of it, needless to say, brown fabric paint on the interior of our trucks does not look good.

Well after throwing a huge fit, involving a burn out and launching the can against the side of the Lowes building, I discovered the paint area was contained to the interior passenger door panel.

At that time I mixed several different paints and covered the area with some success.

However, later that summer I ran into an old family friend who does interior restoration work. He obtained a spray can of SEM Classic Coat, #17233 Agate, dark slate gray, for me. The paint is from Wholesale USA INC. 107 Trenton Avenue St. Louis, MO 63132; 314 427 2400, 1 800 239 5952.

It just warmed up around here this week, so today I carefully masked, about 2-hours, and gave the panel 3-4 coats.

I am more then pleased with the results and wanted to share this with anyone else, who might have had an unfortunate accident like myself.

I took a photo of the paint and an after of the door panel, I do not have any before, but you can imagine. I sprayed from the silver metel slot down, so you can see how it matched the previous color. It went on well, both the plastic and vinyl were sprayed.

Very good info. Thanks for sharing.

I think this probably would work on our sunvisors, the friend who bought this for me uses it for all interior items, seats, carpet, door panels ect.

Nope, I call BS. That's a new door panel.

:D j/k, actually that's a great job. Well done. We need more threads like this that disclose good information as such. Mark REALLY needs it for his sunvis... :eek:HEY WAIT A MINUTE!! Mark's issue with his sunvisor was a mishap involving his wife too. Is there a wife-proof interior protectant spray available?
:dontknow:

MMM
Vinyl is plastic:D

What I am referring to is the spray covered both the hard plastic door and the softer vinyl on the arm rest.

I did look into a new door panel at the time, and if I remember right the dealer quoted me one for several hundred dollars, it seems like it was nearly a grand.

Due to me being a cheap ass, I had to find another alternative.

Thanks,
Russell

Russell, I wouldn't have paid that much for a door panel either.. And I KNOW I'm not a cheap ass. Your alternative is fantastic. I would most certainly go that route.

I've used their products for years. Like anything paint related prep is everything. Their carpet paint works well too...:D

 Hold up a minute there buddy. All this time I thought plastic is vinyl.

nope its the other way around :

Polyvinylchloride is a thermoplastic:D otherwise known as PVC,,,it is made from the same stuff PVC pipe is made from just more elastomers in it to make it flexible ,,it is also easy to paint
