I'm always looking for a good deal on a fast car and today I spotted an '04 GTO at a fair price. Now, I know most of you are not big fans of this new "GTO" and neither was I.

Wow! That is one stout car. It's got the torque and man is it smooth. Now this is the '04 with only 350bhp so I can only imagine what and '05 and up is like with 400bhp. Every shift up to 6th was clean and precise and the thing handled like a Vette. I'm not lying, it was great driving experience. I'm almost tempted to say I enjoyed driving it more than my truck.

I'm not sure if I'll buy it because I am having difficulty with the styling cues but for performance it's probably the best blue-collar sports car for the price.

Sounds good - to bad it doesn't look better.... :D

GM makes some awesome stuff. I've had nothing but great experiences with GM products over the years.
- 84 Pontiac Firebird TA
- 95 Pontiac Grand Prix
- 04 GMC Yukon XLT

My Yukon is hands down the best overall vehicle I've ever owned.

Dude, if you had the RC You would be thinking differently. The shifting has a lot to do with it. :driver: :burnout:

I'm with him.:D But I've heard the GTO's are nice. Just don't like the looks of them.

I also like to test drive cars. Get all dressed up and see what they'll let me drive:D :burnout:

I believe GM engaged in self same sexual gratification and got snake bit with their first foray into the world of retro...(SSR):dontknow:

As a possible result, they may have decided on a conventional body style (read "ptewey") for the GTO. I've only seen one that I thought was sharp....You may have guessed it.....the racing yellow color.:burnout:

Also, do they all have autos or not...?

A newbie joined us recently and attempted to sell or trade his black SC'd GTO for an SRT-10 truck...if memory serves....

But an automatic........? I ain't that old yet.......

Well the one I drove today had a six speed manual. It was nice. I just might be a believer. When my wife comes home I think we'll be on our way to look at an '05 with the 400bhp.

The car has it all really. Sure it doesn't have that GTO look but it's not ugly. It just looks like every other creation from Pontiac. All the Dodge vehicles look the same to me, too, though. It's very comfortable. I'm going to sit on this decision for a while. I'm alarmed at how fast the resale value dropped on these things. I'm sure it has something to do with styling.

I wonder if there's going to be a cult following of this car like there is for others. I doubt it. Surely this car will have it's place in history.

Like Silent D, my heart broke when I saw it was an automatic tranny.

I have no intention of getting rid of my truck, either. I'm just looking for a car to compliment it and the charger just won't do it for me.

If it's a stock 04 it's not as fast as it feels, lol.

I killed one up to 3rd gear with my RC SRT10. Gave him the first move, pulled ahead of him immediately and continued to pull him till we let out.

I've had a couple of rides in the current GTO's. They run pretty damn good and the interiors are nice, but the exterior is well, no thanks.:p

I hear you, Silent Pro, but it was just an overall mix of power and comfort that got me. If I get one, it will be an '05. I'm not too sure I'll get one, though. I just can't get past the styling. Those seats are nice, man.
