Hi, Im a proud owner of a 2005 Ram SRT-10.
I bought it July 2012 at a Mecum Auction here in DSM IA.

Up untill this week Ive had no problems with it.
Last week while driving down the road my truck felt like it power surged 'almost
as if it ran out of fuel .
It only happened afew times but then lost power. It smells like raw egg and it has black smoke comming out the exhaust.

I had a friend come over and did a check on the OBD since the check engine light came on.
The code said my oxygen sensor bank 2 ,sensor 1 had high readings or high voltage.

I bought a new Boach sensor and put it on tonight . It didnt fix it though.
Still has black smoke and seems to miss or lose of power.
I took my tempiture lazer gun and pointed it around my exhaust manafolds, cats
heads etc.
The tempeture readings on the drivers side manafolds were twice as high as the passingerside. and the cat was alot higher too.
think my cats clogged? Exhaust comes out fine but is way hotter then normal

You likely have an issue on that bank of injectors/coils. Something is dumping
Much raw fuel and converter is going into overdrive trying to slow and burn that excess gas, and often this can melt the innards of the converter.
Reset your PCM and try her again.

First off, welcome to the VTCoA.

Secondly, you are smelling a catalytic converter. And Scott is right, something cooked that cat...

thanks guys so far!
Its sunday and I finally got time to get back to my truck.
I just took off the cats on both sides. I only took the second ones.

Like I said before, when I put the infradred thermometer on my exhaust manifolds, the temp on the drivers side where about 450deg. and the pass.
side where 250deg.
The pass. side exhaust had alot of raw gas when I changed both sensors.

The code po152 hi volt oxy sens. bank 2 sens. 1 is what my truck came up with.
The cat on drivers side looks ok, you can see light comming through.
The pass. side is clogged , has alot of black powder 'sut'
Im gona start up my truck but before I do any comments?
should I take off the other cats? thanks input would be great!

just started it up

Well I started it up and checked the temps. on the exhaust manifolds and the
upward cats.
They are pretty close now and of course my truck runs alot better since it can breath. sounds so good too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! nice and loud.

now im gona put acouple pipes on it . Inplace of the cats I took off.
so what about my cat that was completely clogged and ofcourse the cat that is above it?
Has this happened to any of you? thanks again for inputs!

so your say the secondary cat was plugged up???

I'd say if the secondary one was clogged, the first one should be looked at as well. I know sometimes things fail, but I guess I'd be curious as to what caused it to happen in the first place.

yep!!

Welcome to the VTCoA!

So true but before taking it off I started it up and took temp. readings which were pretty close to the other side cat .
and it ran just fine too.
I know what your saying and thought about it.
Im gona put my exhaust back together w/o those cats and see how it runs. thanks again.

Cam 2?

I think that the last time I put Cam 2 gas in my truck . I got leaded.
I know about this subject.

at the end of the season the guy I get it from sells it in 5 gallon gas cans.
he has leaded and unleaded.
Ill ask him tomorrow about it.:(
