Rachel and I hopped in the Jag and drove to Rhode Island to spend the holiday with my mom, step-dad, my brother and his son (my nephew).
In addition to it being Thanksgiving, it was also my mom's 70th b-day....
...AND...
...she just finished whipping breast cancer's azz!
(her surgery was this AM and she's in recovery overnight. All is well and her prognosis is excellent.)
Since it's not all whiffle ball and cranberry sauce, my mom broke out a 1000 pc. jigsaw puzzle and let my OCD flourish:
Didn't take long to finish it.
Obligatory group photo:
L-R:
Brother, Mom, Step-Dad, Some Clown, Rachel.
We did another group shot because my nephew's classmates don't believe his uncle is the inventor of the Tremol-No.
L-R:
Brother, Mom, Step-Dad, Same Clown Again, Nephew.
For those that remember: My brother is back from Iraq and working stateside in Norfolk. The Viper badges that a couple of VTCOA members sent him are still in Iraq! They're still on his old Hummvee! When the motor pool guys first saw the hood badge glued on there, they decided to make it permanent and added a screw to it. It's not coming off. Ever.
I also picked up a new 5-string bass from a friend of mine in Boston:
Ibanez Ergodyne EDA-905.
It's design won a bunch of awards, and the EDA a fantastic player. Good score in my book.
The drive home on Sat. night was GREAT. Zero traffic, 70+mph the whole way, clear weather (though bitter cold), and 0.0 cops for more than 750 miles. We even did more than 60mph over the GWB!!! I beat GoogleMaps by more than an hour.
Great trip and a great time.
