 BREAK DUST.. Yeah we all know about that. Some have done something about it and some haven't; like me. Didn't someone once mention or show some pads that were green and didn't drop so much mess all over the wheels?:dontknow: I'm about to make that move like I should have long ago. Who stocks those pads?

Boomer does. EBC brake pads. I have a set but i have yet to install them. I have heard only good things with very little bad reviews. Most of the guys that have switched said it has made a huge difference. good luck.

Performance Friction makes the fronts and backs for the `04`s.They have WAY less dust than EBC`s and are cheaper.$44.00 at Autozone.I have EBC rears because the PF didn`t come out until the month AFTER I did the rears with EBC.

"Performance Friction Pads at Auto Zone $34.99...No more brakedust......!!!"
That was from Silent D. I just found it.

Fronts 965.20

Rears 702.20

Those are the stock numbers, right Dave?

I remember having to take my first set back because the folks at Performance Friction gave me the wrong damn stock #s.

Anthony, to be sure, I believe those stock numbers are consistent with the product #s numbers for the Ram 3500 brake pads....

If that info is wrong, someone please correct me....

Correct.I have the fronts.

I just bought some 05" calipers for my 04".
(Rear 4:56 axle and now 4 piston front calipers. Its almost an 05". :D ). Is EBC the only aftermarket fromt pad for an 05 caliper, that has minimal dust? It seems like I read that "05 numbers were too low for PF to make 05pads.:dontknow:

Looks of the dust aside.....

Performance (race) pads squeel and make dust....that is what high performance pads do......PERIOD

You can get a pad that reduces dust but you are reducing the brakes performance.....

And this is coming from someone who has painted his rims BLACK! lol

Quick

I have PF pads on front and back. They DO NOT dust my rims and they DO NOT squeel. My truck still stops great. I can't tell any difference in how it stops now compared to the stockers.

If you have an 04 and you are not running PF pads you are missing the best mod out there for the 04.;)

Redsrt007...needs to do some real quantitative testing if these lower dust pads extend stopping disatnce by just a couple of feet...it isn't worth it....

I think if you are a career road racer and .0001 of a second in a race is going to hurt your pocketbook I would look hard at it. However, during my frequent forays to the grocery store and 3 times to the drag strip I have noticed not one ounce of difference in these pads and the stocker. Other than the missing squeel and missing brake dust, that is. :D

I don't wish to be argumentative, just attempting to find an understandable common ground between the two schools of thought....

Here goes:

I've always thought that our brakes were very grabby..... In other words, they almost worked too well.

If the PF pads are slightly less grippy than the OEM pads, I personally have not noticed.

Point of order: If the brakes are locking up and engaging ABS anyway then what's the difference.....? Hell, I'm so ignorant, I don't even know if we HAVE ABS or not.... Although I think they're mandated by law...not sure...

All in all, I still believe the brakes are still super effective and I haven't really notice any reduction in braking power using PF pads...

What I have noticed is how my front wheels aren't caked with grey dust within one day of cleaning them.... I wash my truck and teflon spray it every week... On that schedule, my front wheels are NEVER even slightly dusty...

I hate to use the term but......"bling bling"....I like it..

put my ebc pads on last week from boomer but havent had time to clean the truck to see if they work or not

I tried EBCs on the rear of my truck for a few days and pulled them back off when the PF came out for the rear. EBCs were still way too dusty for my liking. :(

Hate it for you 05 and 06 guys that you have no PF option.:dontknow:
