Ok i been reading, shearcing, for solutions on the problem that plauges us all. Our calipers. Alot of you guys make the power but you cant use it. If we could use 16's front and back we all could show our full potential to the world. To the lighting boys, diesel boys and chevy boys.

So by changing our cailper/rotors possible that would cure everyones problem on what combo they wanted to run. Keeping in mind safty for street use. Shaving the caliper down works, noone has tried it in the front ? However your rideing around with 4 thin walled calipers that could shatter under hard braking. Backs not so bad but to do all 4 would not be recomended.

So our only hope is to find a replacment caliper, or have brembo, wilwood or somone custom make us calipers, then this would open up a new world to quarter mile times for us all correct ?

The only other allternative would be to have a company make 18's in cheater slicks.

The most logical solution it seems is to find a replacement, people have said, ram 1500s, or deisel calipers what about vette equipment ? dime a dozen and same preformance.

Whats everones thoughts on this one problem that confronts us all?

By the way here are some pics from the other site, from viper powerd and how he shaved down the calipers, personaly i dont see how hard it would be, if you have a big grinder such as a angle grinder, it would only take 30 min :)

you gotta go slow with the grinder...figure 6 hours min....

Patrick, Vprpwr and I have all contacted Wilwood, Baer, Brembo etc....they have no interest in us...

Grind the rears...put 20"s on the front and go.......:D

Whats wrong w/ 17's???? I'll let you know how my new setup works...but the 17's have more sidewall than an 18" cheater slick would. I know zex has some custom ccw wheels he runs skinnys on for his truck....think they are 18 or 19". I think the 17 mh drag radials will be good up to a mid 11 second run. How fast are you planning to go?

LOL thats to easy :)

Where there is a will there is a way. Just seems to me our calipers are screwing over alot of people. In this day in age with so many types of cars out there, gotta be something that works. Change rear all together would work, but doesnt leave much to work with on the front :)

Im so convienced that i can get decent times, that i believe you could take my truck stock and turn down some great times with the right combo. I rather spend my money in traction then any other place frist. Theres gotta be a soulution...... im thinking positive here :D

well im looking for a streetable solution yet the best hook up money can buy in slicks. I like to drive my truck to the track and drive it home with cheater slicks.

Im allso looking at the future, when my motor goes whats going back in wont be stock it will be a stroker :p

17s are perfect but as noted only 18s work in the front according to Fstjack.

I dont want mis macthed rims. I may be stingy but theres gotta be a solution to

cheater slicks
visual looks good
no mess no fuss, drive on drive off track
drive to local grocey store to get eggs.

how much difference in compound is it between a cheater slick and full slick ?

people have gotten 11s in a DR though right ? not just srt guys but svt guys ?

Get a pair of Bogart's 18's in the front and some matching 16's for the rear and use the M&H slicks. They hook well. You have the best of both worlds stock front brakes and enough wheel and tire to be safe.

Jack....you can't get an 18 in front if you are an '05.....:(

FSTJACK, the combo is tempting cause i know it will work. But that puts me back in the same boat with bogart rims, not really safe for street. Therefore i have to change everytime at the track.

keep in mind i have no problems driving on the street with slicks, bah cops can ticket me i dont care, chance i take lol. I DONT DRIVE CRAZY ON THE STREET mostly crusie around. Im more about the drag then the road coarse to.

Second of all we pay all this money for a fast truck, and good looking truck. Only to be fast by changing wheels everytime:( not to mention two different size rims.

When i think of all the problems, it leads be back to remove the one thing that is causing you problems, the caliper. All problems solved. Thats why i believe like we all do there is a solution out there but what and where. What car out that has the same cailper we could borrow from. hummm :dontknow:

you are going to need a smaller rotor too....

sorry for posting a deadbeat topic guys, but to me its not dead. Personaly for me and my truck im gonna find a way even if i have to do some welding, plasma cutting, grinding, whatever it takes. Keep in mind this is comming from the guy who is going to run side exhaust like a viper. Im a bit loony :D , once i get my vette back on the road and i can park my truck to do some playing around.
