Hey Tim, Joe Torre sighed with the Dodgers. Hopefully he will have success there.

Anyone wanna put bets down.....

I have a dollar that says the Dodgers will win the World Series next year. :D ;)

I think Tim is going to be incredibly happy. And I also think that the Dodgers may well be contenders for the pennant next year...but there are some really strong teams in the field...

Does anyone remember Joe's history before the Yanks? He was a sub-par manager and mostly had a losing record, if I remember correctly. Let's hope he can do good with the dodgers. I am pulling for him.

The Yankees should be ashamed at how they handled him. Nothing like offering him a one year contract that was a slap in the face for all he did for them. Seems the Steinbrenner apple does not fall far from the tree.

Go cubs:D

Steinbrenner is a fkn meglomaniacal sociopath who should be kept on a leash.

He uses people like so much meat and spits them out when things get a bit tough.... He is a bane on the Yankee organization and should be put down....even more so than I have done here...

As I sit here (in my black Dodgers throwback jersey with the Ebbett's Field 1955 World Series Champs patch on the left sleeve and emblazoned with Maury Wills name and #30 on it) I am reminded that the Dodgers haven't won it all since their manager was Tommy LaSorda (an Italian) in 1988....

I think Joe will do a great job...... I like Joe Torre...always have.....

Good luck to my boys in blue... I've loved the Dodgers all my life.... Always will.

I thought Billy Loes was the pitcher for the Dodgers in the 1955 World Series? :dontknow: (I may not watch baseball anymore.... but, I was a fan once  )

I'm not sure what that has to do with anything....

But, yes...Billy Loes pitched in game 2..... Johnny Podres is (the one) considered (to be) the Dodger's pitching hero of the '55 world series....

Still, when you mentioned Loes, I was a bit stymied about the context of your question....

Wasn't he number 30? :dontknow:

Jake, I just read your post again and I think you were alluding to the patch and Maury Wills..... Wills was the first man ever to steal 100 bases in one year... and he holds a cherished part of Dodger history.... He was not a pitcher, but a shortstop most of his career.....

Nearly all my Dodgers jerseys.... (Brooklyn or LA) have that patch on them... The 1955 series was the very first world series that the Dodgers won.... The only one in Brooklyn.. It was every Brooklyn fan's dream come true.... a really cherished accomplisment... That's why I have so many...

The '55 series marked an end to the old Brooklyn saying, "Wait'll next year" ..

Ah!!! I see!  Thanks for clearing that up, Tim..... I've been "away" for too long! :dontknow:  :(

This is onyl wikipedia, but it's still correct.....

Wills spent all his good years with the Dodgers and most folks associate #30 with him..... Loes played with many teams..... Maury Wills is still a part of the Dodgers training staff..... for what else...? base stealing...

I have a feeling that Torre will die in Dodger Blue...literally not figuratively.

They seem to be one of those life time fits...

I think they deserve each other (thats a positive comment).

Steve you have just made a statement that many here will just not understand...you and I on the other hand know only to well the trauma involved in that move years and years ago.

I understand it, they were the Brooklyn Dodgers before they movedto LA. Yeah, I'm kinda old too.:D

Hey .. I wasnt around in those days... I just read alot!

Awesome news for both Timmy and I.   I have always liked Torre even when he was a Catcher in the Bigs. He will bring instant class to an organization that has lacked it since Tommy resigned and the O'Malley's sold the team to Numb Nuts :D Now they will prolly go after Tori Hunter and Alex Rodriguez and I am all for that. The best potential starting rotation is the National League if healthy and 2 additional big bats in the line up....Watch out Boston :D  Life long True Blue Dodger fan living in Az :D

Tim I will get us some field seats for the first game here in Diamondback land if you wanna join me. I also have an extra room if you wanna spend the night. Think about it and lemme know :D

Maybe that could be the excuse for a GTG! Drinking beer in the grand stands (tea for Tim) with a bunch of truck nuts sounds like a moving experience!
