As we were driving this weekend, Rachel made a point I wanted to share with the members here.
She said that the SRT-10 is like a mythical creature: lots have read about it, or seen pictures, or heard about it from their friends/car buddies....but few (if any) have ever seen one in person.

Until it's stopped next them at the light.

Then they realize that it's a real, live vehicle. It's not a concept car, or something from a dream, or read about in a book/magazine. It's beside them. It moves. I growls (heh heh).
I'm sure there are others out there with supercars that get the same thing. Maybe we should ask them about it.

Well, to those out there reading this who have run home or back to work with an SRT-10 "sighting", I'm happy to oblige.

Superb analogy!

Every Monday I drive my truck to work so I can drive my friends out to Hooters for lunch. Without fail, there is ALWAYS people doing a double-take, either at traffic lights or just driving along the highway.

These trucks are unquestionably VERY rare. Add to that those odd colors like Yellow, Blue and White and it even makes more of a first impression.

My wife and I came out of the grocery store the other day to find this guy walking around my truck trying to take in every angle and reading the badges. As I approached I said "It's called an SRT-10, it has the Viper engine in it". In a voice full of wonder he said "Yeah, I heard about them". Then he got in his Honda CRV and sped off like I caught him doing something wrong :dontknow: .

That is a pretty good way to sum it up. I still get looks of looks and head turns. A few months ago I was at a red light and these 2 guys were hawking hard. Well I didn't notice them until my wife says "Those 2 guys are creaming over your truck". That cracked me up.

Out in Utah its pretty funny to.

As another variable to this mythical creature. Take your truck to a car show and try and register it in a voting class. Here in Utah, you can't, they don't have a category for an SRT-10.

Then sit nearby and listen to the comments people make when looking at the truck. Everything from "How'd they get that motor in the truck" to "It's not a real Viper, those are just valve covers", but by far, my all time favorite was the young couple that walked up and started getting giddy because the truck was equiped with one of those new fuel savings motors that shut down half the cylinders, good for the enviroment, very good on gas :dontknow:.

Then there are those that just walk by and tell there young son, "oh thats just a truck" and the little boy is trying to tell dad its a Viper.

Granted, there are just as many if not more that know what it is, but the ones that have not clue can be funny as hell

Great analogy. I get the stares and comments still as well. A guy who works at my gym just yesterday said to me "is that your black dodge"? "There is not a viper motor in there is there"? LOL Oh yes there is!! He then said "dam lotion sales must be good"!!!! LOL

LMAO FUNNY POST. I know exactly what you guys are saying i get the same comments day in day out. I have had more comments in my truck then any other vehicle i have ever owned. I had 5 people at stop lights talk to me. Every time i go to a shop people talk to me, Every morning comming on base the MP's talk to me about it. This is all in like a span of 7 months since owning the truck.

Most favorite one is , was that truck hard to find. No i say look in autotrader lol.

I'm not sure if the folks in my area of Oceanside/North San Diego county are simply not hot rod buffs or if they are simply ignorant about it all... But I can drive all over town for hours without anyone doing a double-take or even noticing at my truck....

On one hand, it's kinda nice... On my narcissitic side, it's a bit disquieting.

Oh well......... There you are.....

But one could reasonably presume....That the 300 year old WHOP wearing a pink Derby with a fuzzy ball on top, smoking a Cuban, listening to Django full blast , driving the slowest color Blaaaahk SRT-10, and a plaid Izod le Coste pole shirt with the color up, and sweater wrapped nicely around the neck, and a Ghey flag banner across the top of the windshield..............Is not only just Ghey, but is indeed Ghey because he Golfs........... :rock:

Last week when I was in Lincoln City I stopped at a little local store so the wife could run in and get something. As I'm pulling into the parking spot, one guy and his buddy start bowing :adore: :adore: before the truck. Wife goes into the store and I talk to the guys a bit. Karen comes back out and I say good by to the guys and my wife is amazed. Not only were those two talking about the truck, but she overheard a couple more people in the store talking about the Viper Truck in the parking lot.

I think the response you get really depends on where your are. Hell, when I was working/staying in Huntington Beach and would head South to Newport Beach you would see exotic car dealerships the size of Chevy dealers in the rest of the county. It really took something there to make people notice. Go someplace where a new Ford is considered the in thing and you will really stand out.

It would be more accurate to say a middle aged looking wop with perfect dark brown (almost Elvis like) hair wearing an Hawaiian style Dodgers shirt in the baddest ass, supercharged black SRT-10 truck, (I never smoke in my house or my vehicles...I only smoke the tires) with Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, Dixie Dregs, or Django blasting, who claims to be a Christian but cusses like a Sargeant Major with a Phd.. Who by the way before he was married got more pussy than the humane society..............and is defiantly not named Smokey O'Toole.:rock:
