I know a lot of you out there have that special room in your home where you retreat to for relaxation, seclusion or to simply entertain yourself, family and/or guests in. Or maybe everyone is off limits but you. For years I’ve wanted a mancave or simply a room I can call my own. A room that makes me not want to leave the house. I’ve seen so many which were great for ideas. I’m always very interested in seeing where that may be for you and how it looks like. Well, last month I said to heck with it and started building my own after finding a piece of gaming history in the dump. Here’s some pictures of the development from beginning to end. First is the piece of forgotten gaming history. With extensive re-wiring, lighting install, audio rework, programming, body work, fresh paint and some trinkets, it's ready to please featuring 59 more vintage games added to the original to choose from. The next post will show the room development.

Here is the development of my 7.2 surround sound, 3D theater room / game room. It features 3D Blue Ray, XBOX 360 gaming, 3D projector, Sony 3D WiFi Bluetooth receiver, pool table, full sized arcade (brought back from the dead) and loads of memorabilia to gaze at. It took about three weeks to build with the help of my girlfriend Mandy after a home theater establishment quoted me over $7,000.00 for a way simpler setup with cheaper quality equipment. So, my DIY instinct kicked in and I got it done WHILE remodeling my downstairs 2nd mancave-like living room. Those pictures are next.

Here's the before and after development of the 2nd mancave-like downstairs living room. It's the room adults retreat to for discussions, visiting or just socializing. Here I went with a new wall to better divide the living room from the entry foyer. It allowed for the clean install of wiring for a 60" plasma, DVD/Blue Ray and soundbar with wireless subwoofer. It sounds great but not as great as the 7.2 upstairs.

lookin good Antknee:rock::rock::rock:

Thanks Carl. I was driven by a theater store's outrageous $7k+ quote which allowed me to do two rooms myself setting me back just under $10k total. I'm sure happy with it. When are you gonna come to Houston to visit Carl?

It's a semi-gloss finish of BEHR with built in primer. The color is Chianti. :DThey didn't have Fava beans to go with it... You can't tell in the pictures but I also used BEHR Faux jelly over the paint to create a visual texture. THAT color is cherry cobbler... :dontknow:The pictures don't show it too well though.

I could tell it was some kind of faux...have you ever seen the glaze and paper bag finish? I wanna do that on one living room wall to break it up a lil....Now we sound like a bunch of Sallys!!:D:D

FAUX GLAZE.. That's what I wanted to say, not jelly. The word "glaze" escaped me. We may sound like Sallys dude but it's all in good fun. After completing such work you get to relax and enjoy the fruits of the labor. I had only one week left at home after I was done. It wasn't enough. This next time after my current trip will be nothing but a month of relaxation at home. I can't wait to get back on some Call Of Duty on my even bigger projector screen. Before I was using an 84" screen on a tripod. Now it's gonna be 100 inches of automatic rifle mayhem and earth shaking surround grenade sound...

:DLMAO!!:DI cant wait to start the mancave in June when the new house will be ready to move into!:rock:

Wow! Antknee this is impressive :)
Maybe I just go work in BFE with you, lmao
I'll have to come play some COD with ya just for the experience :burnout:

You should have your own DYI channel..instead some girlie trying to pound a hammer..well like a girl..:D

I tried that with the girlie and ended up patching a part of the ceiling after my gf's leg went clean through it. She kind'ah slipped whilst running audio wires down through the walls. An experience and valuable lesson she'll never forget..

Yeah Scotty, you're right there in Waco. Come on down bro, I'll have some rib-eye steaks burning on the grill and cold drinks. Hellz, I want everybody to come through.:party:

Some photos of my real mancave...been working on it since 2000...even the Pro Football Hall-Of-Fame was impressed.

When i get married my "dream room" will just a basement with a lock on inside!

Well isn't a mancave simply where a man can go for an hour or so, drink beer, watch his bigscreen, shoot some pool and fart without any interruptions...:beer:

I don't see anywheres one could set a beer down in your mancave skypilot. But with the amount of protective plastic in there, I suppose farting would be safely acceptable. The stuff you're displaying is really cool. I bet it's possible to just stand in there in awe looking at stuff for hours. Neat. You need a recliner in there now.
