Since I have been out of the military it has become difficult for me to uphold the payments and keep cash in my pocket. VA still hasnt returned with a disability rating and no telling when that might be or what it is. I know I wont get much for it, so I am going to try a few dealerships to compare appraisals and decide from there. I really hate to let it go, but I have decided that if I want to purchase a new home this year I should go with something smaller. Not to mention finding a job has been difficult. I have searched all over and noone will hire me, for one I'm only 21, but with my disability most companies in my field of expertise wont hire me. I have been looking into armed security positions, but none have returned my calls or emails.

sorry hear about that, hope you a good luck! and don't forgot you are still welcome to here

thanks guys. I really dont want to give up just yet. I'm hoping for that magical phone call from VA that will allow me to keep my truck and get my finances straight. And thank you to everyone on here, excellent group of people all around. And even if I do sell it I'll still drop in from time to time :)

FYI, I don't know if whomever its financed through will allow you to do this. A few years I had to "delay" two payments. I had good payment history and they were more than happy to help me out which it did. It was right after Christmas time a few years ago and I had to pay some CC bills and such, and I got to skip two payments on my car. There was a catch, something to do with aquired interest and the payments were tacked to the end of my contract, which means I didn't pay it off as planned. The person that worked this for me, says its a "common" option. They just don't broadcast it. Good luck!

I mentioned that cause it sounded like you were expecting any day to hear from the VA.

I hope all goes well for you and thank you for protecting our Freedom! :)

so you mean to tell me that you fought for the U.S. and got hurt fighting for the U.S. and you are struggling to keep youre head above water..

boy that is sad and the U.S. gov should be ashamed of them selves

That's real sad bro, I will keep you in prayer.

Never like to see a post like this one ... but they happen. Lets just say at 21/yrs. your going to have more than enough time to buy a couple of these Trucks.
And like the man said, Thank You!

What's your field of expertise, and disability.

Maybe someone here can help you out in finding something.

Thanks again guys. It really is dissapointing, but I am still young with a lot of ambition. I hope to eventually own a Viper in the future. I have been doing welding and steel work since I was in 10th grade, Iam certified in Arc and MIG welding. Plus my 3 1/2 yrs military welding experience. I injured my back in Iraq and have been diagnosed with Lumbar disc disease, so my discs will most likely never regenerate. I also have sever nerve damage that prevents me from standing or sitting long periods of time and I can forget about running, pushups etc. I plan to utilize the VA as much as possible, and go to school and eventually Im hoping to own my own business.Real estate has also been an interest to me, but I have no experience and I sure dont have enough money to start. I work as a salesman at a dealer now, its ok, the money is decent but not exactly what I want to do for the rest of my life. If I could I would still be in the service.

Ever thought about doing underwater welding? High risk, but the pay and benefits are very good. Used in boat salvaging, oil rigs, and other applications.

under water weilding is out of the question,,,,all the companies out here do medical research and mri 's .....so youre back problems would show up.... and you have to go to school for about 1 1/2 years to be a commercial diver

Try testing for a Civil Service position and work on a military base. Your prior military adds to raise your scores. Postal worker and state jobs like Social Security offices. Technical colleges need welding instructors. Any type of State or Fed job would be ideal and very accommodating with a disability and great benefits. Good Luck!

Yea I had planned to pursue a certification through the military, and that was the problem with most companies I applied with was the medical evealuation which more often than not includes an MRI and x-ray...which in my case don't turn out well. Thanks again guys/gals for all your support. And all help is appreciated

Good advice. I knew people would be able to offer suggestions.

I ahve been intersted in a governmant position. I have applied time and time again online, but with no response. I think that they are the type of positions where you really have to know someone to get a better chance of getting in. I was offered an armed security position at the pentagon, but the salary was lower than expected and I really dont want to drive 2hrs to work everyday. I live right outside of Ft Detrick, so I am trying to find out if the security firm there is hiring. Im not sure what type of Government work I could do. I have the military background but I think for the most part I would be starting completely over....Im getting some serious Deja Vu, just like when I was in high school and had no idea what to do :)

Do you still have access to the Base? If so, go to the Exchange and buy an ARMY Times, Navy Times..etc. and look in the back of the paper. They have job openings in there all the time and also have HeadHunters in there that specially cater to military minded folks like yourself.

Also, call your old First Sargeant and ask him if he can help you out. If possible....Hope things turn out well for you Brother. Good Luck!
