Has anyone had a problem with their radio shutting off while driving for no reason:dontknow: ....The first couple of times I kinda figured it was a fluke or something, but usually it would come right back on. This time (4th) it turned off and now it won't come back on. Just didn't know if anyone else has had this problem or even heard of it. Thanks fellas.....bikertat:burnout:

With a Paxton and all the goodies I rarely have it on. Havent had the problem you describe when I do have it on.

Nope but if it's cutting off completely I'd check the connections behind the headunit!!

I checked all the "obvious" signs before I posted this thread. What gets me is it comes back on after about 5 min or so. But here comes a stupid question: Can the radio overheat for some reason?

Oh, I never listen to it in town, just the tires turning:burnout: and the paxton humm'n, but it is nice to listen to it on the country ride home.

Not likely but the amp could possibly if you have an issue with it or possibly a connection issue with the amp.

I do not know all of the options on a 04 model, however, if it not the amp and you the UCONNECT feature, then it could be activating when it is close to a blue tooth set up. I have this option and it will cut off the radio when a blue tooth connects. I could be a malfunction.
Just a suggestion. A hot amp will stop the music to the speakers, I dont think it would cut off the radio:dontknow:

Maybe it's rebelling against your choice of tunes......rof...:D

Sorry, no it sounds like an intermittant short of some kind, which may or may not be a heat issue. Usually a temperature related short makes the connection malfunction in the cold and then resume proper function when it warms back up.

However, if you are playing hip hop the constant neoseismic activity could shake just about anything loose... Including your radio, dental work, girlfriend's zoomers.....all the way down to yer lugnuts.;)

Some engineer can correct me if I'm FOS.... :star:

I have never had any probs with the CD or radio..... But, I play stuff like Stevie Ray, Dixie Dregs, Moody Blues....shit like that.

NOW WHAT!!!!!!!! I go to take the beast for a little spin:burnout: and I go to start the truck and it seem like it is having trouble starting---battery seems to be almost dead????????? The truck finally did start and I just let it sit there (didn't drive anywhere). The gauge for the battery read fine (obviously when it was running).....tried for a code but nothing. My radio still will not come on.....do you guys think something with the radio maybe slowly draining my battery?????? This truck seems to be nothing but problems......starting to think I should just sell it.....hell only 2480 miles, she's brand new. HHHHHEEEELLLLLPPPPPPP:idea: :shot: :hmmmm2: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

pull the radio fuse, and then recharge the battery. DONOT start the truck with the truck on the charger. we need to islolate the problem.

Now I'm really thinking that someone HATES me!!!!! First the f*cking battery is dead on the truck.....I really need to cut the grass (very bad!!!) and went to start the mower and guess what........................................................................................................................................ :dontknow: the F*CKING battery is dead on it too!!!!! Ok, if anyone jinxed me in anyway it worked, but I would really like to get the grass cut and really would like to drive the truck:burnout: .....Sorry fellas just venting alittle.....thanks for allowing me....bikertat

gary's right need to isolate the problem, but in also in the past I have seen alot of problems caused by batteries, bad cells, so on. If your truck sits for more than a week at a time, you really need to get a battery tender , or trickle charger. They can save a lifetime of problems.:D

I've had no issue with mine at all, except when I go under an overpass/awning while listening to the Sirius radio, other than that it works fine. The good news for you is (if it's good news) that now that it's a hard failure you'll be able to find and fix it...I know that's kinda like wetting your pants in the dark...it makes you feel better, but no one notices, right?

Stupid Q but why havent you taken it in for warranty? I see the paxton but still that wont deny you warranty. For the radio, They'll do some basic checks, since it's not working this is good. After they check the power and ground to verify the circuitry is intact they order you a new radio( and amps if you havent had them replaced) As for the battery, they will do a battery test with a "midtronics" to make sure the batt doesnt have a shorted cell, if that battery test checks out ok then they prolly will do a parasitic draw test to see that the draw is within specs (usually 30-50milliamps). Hope this helps yours troubles

I don't really have a stealership around this area that knows anyhing about these trucks. The place I bought the truck from didn't even know how many quarts of oil the truck took.......I watched them run around like a monkey trying to f*ck a football for about a half hour before I told them myself. I will be taking the truck down to Boomer here really soon and hopefully we can found and fix the problems ourselves.........it just seems like everything went to hell today for me........bikertat
