What's the general thinking here? I pulled off my intake hose and there's a bunch of carbon. Normally, I would do a throttle body cleaning. But, I dont want to mess anything up. Thanks

I would remove the TB and clean it. It isn't going to hurt it. I would even strip off the TPS before using any cleaning solvents on it. Also, be careful not to get any cleaning solvents on the throttle shaft bearings. If there was a lot of carbon on the TB, you might also check the idle air motor, which is on the intake. That will affect idle if it starts to get gummed up.

Does the TPS need to adjusted when it's put back on? And, will any throttle body cleaner work? Can the idle air motor be cleaned with the same cleaner?
