Alright guys since I aparantly started WWIII by mentioning to sean that he should do a GB on his throttle body:D . I started this new thread to try to keep everything straight so the venders will know more about what's going on. Also I am sure there will be some change of heart on which one people will get with me personally being one of those people:( . The members should post up his or her screen name and put the venders name out to the side. As soon as a member post on this thread they need to send the vendor they are choosing a PM letting them know so they can keep up with how many TB's are sold to them.. Lets PLEASE try to keep the whoring down on this thread guys;)

Personally, I wouldn't back out after I've committed to participate in a group buy. I don't think it's fair to either vendor to do that.

And I think each vendor will review their own thread to see who's ordering their product. We already have a Roe thread going. I don't think we need to post here again.

Everyone needs to remember the spirit of the group buy is based on units sold. I just do not see 2 seperate groups of 25 forming for TB's. If the number of buyers changes, then neither vendor is obligated to meet the price they quoted. If I were Roe, I would be assuming the whole thing is off until the 25 orders are in hand. Those that paid (provided payment info) thinking they had a group together are going to be the ones who suffer. I would not be surprised to see our vendors shy away from the concept either. Sure seems like a headache if people start backing out.

Just my 2 cents, but then again I have not slept in days.
 
I would agree with 2933 on this one :) We already have a TB threads with names on them. good idea though...

I am with you 100%. I told Sean I would purchase his in the group buy and when he came out with that price (which is outstanding!) I committed. I would of bought Gary's if he offered it at that price before I committed.

I am also stuck in middle of the Line Lock setup that azpyro was setting up. There have been numerous other setups come along in the meantime but I have refrained from buying them since I already committed to his kit (plus my tires don't need any help going bald right now :D)

I hope Sean does not have to change the price due to too many people backing out (although I understand he is running a business). People backing out kinda screws us people who have already committed.

Like all things Roe develops, it was developed to be affordable for the members, and still be a quality piece of work, and to offer engraving or other options is showing their desire to meet the needs of this forum.

Its sad that everytime a vendor has a group buy, or something special it gets turned around on and demoted.
I personally am offended by the transactions of this week, not only for myself, but for every member on this fourm:(
Things really shouldnt have to go to these extremes, vendors should stand behind their product be it $2 or $2000.
 
I tried to stay out of this one but I think people that had their names on Roe's TB group buy and decided to buy Boomer's TB(nothing to do with you Boomer) and backed out should be ashamed of themselves. It is a very selfish act and letting your fellow members down that were part of the group buy.

Not to start anything here, but it is a free country and if someone has a change of heart and decides on a different product for whatever their reason, they should not have to feel ashamed of themselves.

If someone had paid for the product and cancelled their payment that would be different. In the case of some I think it was simply a choice of what product they ultimately decided on once their was a choice available. Also, I like instant gratification and Boomer had his ready to go.

As previously stated on another thread by Mike Brady, the internet is a powerful tool and it brought the price of either unit within the reach of anyone who wanted one from either vendor that was offering the product.

They are both GREAT Vendors without a doubt. I personally opted for Boomers TB as I have dealt with him in the past and he provided me excellent service and a quality product that was just as he represented it to be.

As was stated to Sean Roe in a PM between us (we were going to go with Gary) and if we ever purchase a supercharger it will be from Sean Roe !!!! :rock: :rock: :rock:

I have seen other group buys where people have changed their minds or removed themselves from lists completely for reasons unstated........

I've no idea what negatives are being referred to and have no intention of searching them out. I'd not planned on buying a TB but even Sean's initial price got my attention. I don't expect much if any benefit now from a new TB but plan to do heads/cam early 2009 and expect I'll be wanting to reduce/eliminate all flow restrictions then, thought the TB was a good price, knew I'd want one eventually, so I committed while they're available t a reasonable price. I've already provided payment and a note confirming the need to get delivery without a signature. If the group buy goes away I'll still buy at the initial price. Certainly cheaper is better but I've made a commitment (just one on this), and will stand behind it.

Sean Roe stepped up to the plate and offered us a tremendous deal, if we could get enough people interested.

I like Boomer and his stuff as much as anybody else but I have never seen him offer his TBs for anywhere near this price before Sean offered his. And I will still buy other X-Metal products.

But I feel like I owe it to the other members on here who signed up for the discount Roe price, not to leave them holding the bag by bailing out because Boomer will now match the price. Not to mention owing it to Sean to stay true to my word, now that he offered the price (based on my/our interest in buying).

Free country and free market or not, I still think it's shameful to bail on the other members and Sean Roe. Group buys by nature are dependant on participation. To me it's wrong to say "I'm in" and then bail out.

Like or not, agree with it or not, that's how I feel about it. :(
 
I don't have experience with either vendor. By putting my name on the GB list I committed to buy prior to knowing final price but assuming initial retail price plus shipping was worst case scenario. It was acceptable and the lower priced option. If the GB fails I'm still committed to buy from Sean.

I appreciate your opinion. However, at the time I changed my mind I had not made a payment or a commitment. The list was to establish an interest level based on price, timing, etc. The cutoff for the "0pting in or out" was October 5th to my understanding.

Those who made a payment commitment should honor their commitment. Had I paid for the product I would definitely not "bail out".

To get the group buy price, let's say you need to place the order over the phone, fax or direct e-mail (not through our website) between now and 5:00pm EST on Friday the 5th?
To get the group buy price, you have to mention VTCOA Group Buy with the order.
Those orders will be compiled and that production will be run all at one shot together.
Nobody will be billed until their TB is ready to ship.
We do Visa, MC and Amex.
We'll test out some VTCOA engraving and post a pic Thursday or Friday to see what you guys think (our machines are tied up making parts right now).

blah blah blah....gotta say I am tickled pink that Roe has sold almost 30 of these things in a couple days....speaks volumes....hell I bought one and don't need it...gonna keep it and when someone asks me about TBs I am gonna sell it even cheaper....than buy another from Sean and so on....I wonder how many I can sell that way....

WOW!!! I REALLY STUCK MY FOOT ON MY MOUTH ON THIS ONE:eek: SORRY GUYS:( It doesn't matter to me I will buy both TB's if it means the difference between sean not giving a group buy or not. For the price they are selling for anybody can get there money back later on. I just personally like gary's piece better but I didn't want to pay $600 for it like most of the people on the forum. Maybe it was wrong of gary for offering his for the same price after sean already started his list and maybe is wrong of me to change my mind:dontknow: Obviously it is and I wasn't thinking of that. I was just thinking about getting a nicer piece for the same money;)
