Tire damage

Beautiful Scott.... Where do you get your nails done? :D

My tire is a little worse but on the inside sidewall. Does not get much exposure, curbs, etc... But it is down to the thread. Size of tear is similar to yours though. :dontknow:

You think I should change it on Friday to be sure?

As a former tire dealer I will tell you to change the tire very soon. THe problem with exposed steel on a tire is that water and rust will eventually travel up the steel cord. This can lead to seperations in the tire. You can;t really fix the problem any more since most tire shops that could fix it won't due to the legal risks on speed rated tires. Damage could have come from any curb or anything lying in the road that you might not have seen.

Hahaha... I got my nails done by hot wings tonite!!!

Weird that yours is on the inside, I looked over the insides of mine, and they are clean.

I would say if there is thread showing, and you have to drive it a couple of hours it wouldn't be a bad idea.

How about this: Put the spare on for the drive up, when you get to the Sun, we can help you put the regular tire back on, then when we are done showing them off at Hooters or BK, put the spare back on for the drive home. :dontknow:

Okay... I get the point... :(

The rig never gets wet aside from washing. The cords are exposed, but still are bedded in the rubber. Do I need to act immediately or based on the info provided, you think I can get through the weekend? I am guessing, no.. change it asap... :(

Done... Gonna order from tirerack. Can get it here for Friday I guess so I will have it done Friday or early Sat.. Cant play around with this.

The crappy part is, they are still basically new and it is such a shame to toss a tire aside that has seen so little road life. :(

Placed order on tire rack... $201 shipped for stock pirelli. Not too bad. I hope it gets here for Friday. Said 1 business day. Gonna be a ruch, I know it...

Tire Rack is Fast! And I believe they are right there in Jersey anyway, doesn't have far to go!!

If it doesn't get there in time, consider my option until you can get it changed out....

Will do... Thanks Scott.... Yeah, Newark... They close @ 8pm. I think I may have just missed it for today. but if it goes through and gets on the truck tomorrow, I may have it for Fri. If not, sat morning. I will get tracking info tomorrow prob. They I will know for sure...

Thanks again for the input guys...

Treker, I have s similar "chunk" torn from my tire. Its just under twice the size of ntw0rks and flaps over also. I noticed it a short time after I picked up the truck last year (not literally, I know someone was thinking it)! I hate to say it but I'm ridding that bad boy for a few thousand more miles!! Its on the sidewall and I feel its something to watch but I'm not gonna replace the tires yet. I have 18K on the stock Perelli's so far and the tread is still fine. I'm gonna replace the tires this fall and feel the tire should be fine till then, I hope!!

Great quote about picking up the truck... :)

I train also, but nothing like you. I actually just started again in Dec when I had not done any training except jogging to the fridge and back. Since then, lost 2 pant sizes, 40 to 36 waist, 26lbs of usless fat, and went from 16.4 body fat to 13.1. I was out of control. LOL

Looking forward to meeting you and maybe get some pointers. Not looking to get huge anymore, just fit. We will talk more on Sat about it.
