Tire Rub?

I may need a slightly smaller tire up front. I have stinky springs up there and when I hit certain bumps it rubbs the tire and I don't wanna roll the fender (cuz I don't no a safe way), any suggestions? I have brand new nitto 420's (stock size) and have thought about going to a 295/40R22 if they even make that size...

Check where it is actually making contact. It is probably rubbing on the inside not on the outside of the wheel well. Should be harmless.

Ok, its only rubbing the front drivers side Looks like that wheel stick out a lil farther, and i just had it aligned no long ago. I have my new a-arms, ill install them soon and see if that fixes it.

Its rubbing the outside of the tire borderline the sidewall and tread, leaving a pretty bad mark, will definately hurt the tire if i keep it up...

Ok, its only rubbing the front drivers side Looks like that wheel stick out a lil farther, and i just had it aligned no long ago. I have my new a-arms, ill install them soon and see if that fixes it.

Its rubbing the outside of the tire borderline the sidewall and tread, leaving a pretty bad mark, will definately hurt the tire if i keep it up...

then your not gonna know really until you get the correct a arms installed, you can take a rubber mallet and carefully roll the lip inside until then

Easiest way is to get a wooden bat, thick broom handle etc.

Just thick enough that it will get stuck between the wheel and the outer lip. Put it at the top rear of the front tire just touching the lip.

Have some one hold the wood at a slight angle to the lip. Drive the truck SLOWLY forward while they HOLD ON TIGHTLY to the wood.

Now have them put more of an angle on the wood and reverse it.

Do this a couple of times and you should have rolled up the lip far enough.

Cheapest way to do it.

Best fix for this is a special tool sold by Eastwood works great and will not hurt paint. If you dont know who they are do a Google search, their having a special on this tool right now

yup, just need the bigger bump stops. mine used to do the same thing after i got it aligned

Strange that is is actually hitting the fender and not the fender liner. I about wore out my liners No tire damage though...or better stated..no unexpected tire damage :burnout:

If not i do Fenders are to soft to roll them with a handle of any sort they will flare out first. Also if you get to much of a bend in the inner lip he paint will crack and continue to chip. You only need to cut half of the lip and do it in the shape of a finger nail so that you only remove the area that is rubbing. Cut the inner lip with a dremel then just touch up the bare metel so it does not rust. I run a 285/35 up front and all is well except i need to move the battery since my tire is eating the tray up. Do the passenger side too one hard turn to the right and i bet you will find it will also cut it.

Good luck and if you need a fender i have an extra one that is painted and ready to go

Thanks alot buddy, i wouldnt mind running a smaller tire up front anyway, just not as small as before (265/40R22)...

I dont have fender liners, they were removed when Mark was running the bag suspension on this truck
