Turtle Wax's "Wet & Black" said on the directions that it wouldn't come off. From the bottle:
"This Turtle Wax professional formula contains a blend of silicon polymers that penetrate the tire rubber to lock in a blazing shine that will not spin-off onto your vehicle's body panels."

I'm (still) looking for a tire shine that doesn't whip off the tires and end up all over the side of the truck.
Suggestions are welcome.

you have to wipe it off after applying it. I learned that from the detailer I go to :)

DITTO - or at least let it dry first :dontknow: :D

Instructions say: "Let dry for 3-5 minutes."
I let it dry for 12.5 HOURS....and you see my results above.
Yes- excess was wiped off.

It will still get in the crevasses of the lugs in the tire.... After 10+ years of detailing experience (some professional), I've NEVER found a tire dressing that doesn't spray the vehicle after the first few miles of driving. :dontknow:  .... Sorry. :dontknow:

The best luck that I've found is the "gel" dressings that wipe-on with an applicator. :) But, you will still have to use a quick-detailer spray to wipe your truck down after you go around the block.

Tire Dressing

I've had great success with

STP's - SON OF A GUN

It is a foaming kind out of an areosal can. I only spray on 1 coat and not real heavy.

I don't get any splatter(that is noticeable anyway)

I use Meguiars Hot Shine Tire Gel...Works really good but like Jake said, I do drive around the block:burnout: then wipe down with a detailer. Thre is hardly any that comes off.

ZAINO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is not a gel, and is the best I have ever seen at sticking to the tire. It also does not create a build-up of goo after multiple applications.

Its hard enough keeping my truck clean.
I just gave up on all tire dressings for now.

i apply my tire shine, then wipe it off with a sponge...no flinging on my body panels....thats one of my biggest pet peeves...

I use the foaming stuff, but I spray it into a rag and wipe it on the tires so there's not much excess.

Plus, I only use it on my Focus, which is Silver, so you really can't see it on the paint anyway.;) :D

Thus far I've been pleased with the stuff from Dupont, the Teflon Tire Shine. It sticks to the tire, and dirt doesn't stick to it. . .

Like a motorcycle, I don't consider tire shine a good thing for a performance tire. I have enough traction problems as it is. I shoot for a dull black (non-oxidized) sidewall... But I still want raised-whites...:p

My method is to clean the entire tire/rim with 10:1 water:Simple Green, hit the sidewall with Vinylex 10 minutes before washing the whole truck. I use the last of the carwash in the bucket to do the tires & rims... it's not a pretty picture. I'm afraid someone's gonna tell me I have to recycle what's left of that water.

The end result is a no-gloss, pure solid black tire that doesn't develop cracks...:D
