Tires

OK I could not find a thread that talked about our tires and other subsitutes.

I want "W" rated and pricing to be close.

Only thing i have found are the
Perilli Scorpion for $778 Delivered
and
Continental Cross Contact for $785 Delivered.

Anyone use the Continentals?

Other options anyone has used? I do plan to road race them next summer as much as possible.

I got 35K miles out of my Nittos but they were sketchy over 135mph and were out of round for the last 5K miles.

The Generals and most others are the "V" rated. I am looking to go with the "W" rated ones only. I think that leaves only the two i mentioned.

If there are any others i have not seen them yet.

Also has a W speed rating, but it has a jacked price to go with it's sick looks. :rock:

As for the Continentals I just don't know about them... all i know is that's what Ford uses (same brand, different tire) for it's Deisel 350's and they are junk, just like the truck.

I saw the BFG's. Ehhh. They look OK.

If price were the same i would proabably go with them. But for almost $700 in the difference I can get an upgrated PCM and traction bars.

I am thinking i will try the Continentals. I will make up my mind this weekend.

I just had the Nittos and would like another set. But the truck is about to become my weekend warrior/track truck. With over 50K miles i think it is time to let her take a breather.

Time to put her in the air and do some magic. It's winter here so i am pretty much forced to put her away.

Personally I would not put Generals on my wheel barrow.

I am running Yokahama tires right now and they have been great. I sold tires for about 30 years and my first choice would be Michelin then Bridgestone. I agree with silverback about Generals. I had the most warranty problems with General, Coopers and firestones when I sold tires.

OK here it is-the only 2 "W" rated choices:

The Perilli's @ $780 will called in Reno from Tire Rack
The Continentals Cross Contacts UHP @ $720 Delivered

Pretty much the same in every catagory-size, speed, traction, wet/dry etc

Since everyone has the Perilli's and other "V" rated tires i figure i might as well try the Continentals. :dontknow:

Making the choice tomorrow but leaning towards the Continentals.

I've decided to just stop driving the truck when my tires wear out......

One can purchase some damn fine and decent alternative form of transportation for the price of 1 f'n set'a tires on our trucks......

Screw this shit..................!!!

BTW I agree with Silver...............General makes one shitty, cheapass tire......

I had some self sealing Continentals on my Magnum that I was not very pleased with. I beleive I had the Continental Sport Conti's (unsure of speed rating but it was for up to 130 mph) that came on my Magnum. I'm sure they differ from the one's you chose but here's my experience with the tires overall. The dry traction was just OK and the wet traction seemed better then average. The tires had a decent tread wear rating but alot of Magnum owners had probelms with the tires "feathering" on the edges and very quickly wearing out. Some would say the alignment was the culprit and others would say the tires. My alignment was well within specs (according to my dealer) and my Conti's were on their last leg when I traded my Magnum in for the truck at 20K miles! I still have the Perelli's on my 04 RC with 17K miles on them so far and they appear to be holding up very well. I've read several complaints regarding the Perelli's but I think there alot better the the Conti's thjat were on my Magnum. I know its apples and oranges but thats how I see it. When I'm due for new shoes, I'm thinking of staying with the Perelli's but stepping it up to a 325 series out back. Hope this helps.
