Toasted Fidenza Anyone!?

I've been telling guys this exact thing for a long time (stock flywheel resurfaced is the way to go)...............now with this discussion, maybe some people will read into it a bit more.

Heavier than stock is what is needed for Drag Racing. Untill someone comes up with one that is Heavier the 5400lb truck is Not going to launch.
We used a 75 lb flywheel in the big block Camero, and that was a launch!

I have over 30+ launches with the centerforce @ 5-6k RPM's with slicks & stock flywheel when testing and reviewing info for centerforce. My 60ft times were better them most with aftermarket flywheels.

My Opinion? Bang-for-buck, skip the fidenza and look into upgraded hydraulics (if you still have the stock ones), or spend the money for *better go-fast mods :)

A lightweight flywheel works better for a lighter vehicle in a supercross style racing more then a 5k lb truck in a 1/4 event :)

WORD!

Yep i gots the upgraded hydraulics.

I picked the truck up tonight from the shop.....pedal pressure seems to be reduced and she definately has major grip!

they gave me back the flywheel and the center section is just wore all the way down to the bolt heads. think its worth orderring up a new center section and selling it? does it fit only our trucks or other cars too?

It depends on how much the plate costs, but it might be worth it. It is also supposed to fit the Vipers.

Mine is acting weird, sorta "jerky".I may have the same problem. If so,I'll repair the Fidanza center section and sell it (hopefully).

How much are new Centerforce clutches?

 ... more info coming.... Dan just installed my NEW flywheel...
(dcperformance parts "Chrome-Molly-Steel") it's lighter and stronger than stock.
The only problem is he also put in a new clutch (stock O.E.M.) at the same time
and I can't really tell you much until I can jump-on-her... 500/miles!

Quick,
Why on earth would he put an OEM clutch back in? The Centerforce clutch and the new flywheel would have probably been the optimum set up.:dontknow:

That OEM clutch may not last the 500 mile break in with your power. Good luck with it but I suspect you'll be back in for another clutch job soon.

That didn't make sense to me,either.

My clutch is fine and so was the fidanza flywheel. After putting in a stock flywheel everything is much better.Around town driveability is back, sounds better, too !!!!! Way less popping on decel and gear changes. Why that is I don't know. The new hydraulic fluid helped the grinding / sticking when shifting to 6th.

THAT SUCKS... I'm having the Fidanza installed with my CF in #1900 as we type... But then again I don't drive her hard. I got to 31,995 miles with the stock clutch before noticing subtle signs of clutch wear.. So this set up should last me really long.

if you aren't beating it hard or doing hard launches i think you'll like it....mine doesn't rev up as fast going through the gears....kinda miss that.

With the fidanza it will rev up REALLY quick. You may like it.I tried it and found that I prefer the stock flywheel. You will just have to judge for yourself ;)

Hey Rice/Hot Ram, did you guys take extra care when breaking in the clutch the first 500 to 700 miles?:dontknow:

Yes !!!!!!! I am not sure exact mileage,probably around 600.LOTS of around town stuff i.e., change gears a lot.Not 600 freeway miles !! Break-in is critical !!

That's what I've been hearing. The Viper tech that's installing it said it will be noisy at first before proper break-in.. I was just wondering how you did with this..
