Right on Ant. It's good to see that it is possible for a father to gain custody. I want nothing more than to keep my family together, but if the time ever did come I would fight tooth and nail to have custody of my boys. I'm sure it would be a real battle, but you can bet I would be tenacious.

I hope that you and your daughter stay as tight as you are now for the rest of your lives. Congrats!

Very Happy for you! The BIG question is SHE happy. I hope so and wish you all the best. My Dad was lucky enough to get me in a custody battle many years ago and I couldnt have been happier
 
Thank you guys. This has been the greatest feeling since I first held her in my arms as a baby. It feels like an enormous weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Of course the weight of raising a daughter will remain upon me but that is to be expected and I am grateful for the burden and opportunity. I will continue to be the father I have always been and certainly will pay attention to advice from others since I am still learning.

Oh, and Demon8, YES she's happy because she's finally permanenetly with the parent that took the time to bond with her and never used her as a weapon or a paycheck. Unfortunately her mother has visitation with her from July 1st to July 31st, so I will patiently wait for 6 pm of July 31st to hug her and let her know what is and has been happening that led us to today (I never discussed anything with her so as to not bring her hopes up for nothing).

I went through hell and gained custody of my daughter about 3 years ago. It was a hard battle that was well worth the fight.
