I just spent an hour talking to my replacement here at work. Letting them know the kinds of things I'm responsible for, what will be expected of them and what they are really getting into.

For once, upper management has decided rather than have someone retire, then try to replace them, to identify a replacement and get them trained.

Today I took the first step in my retirement, it is a good thing and a great day!

Nice... For a minute I thought you were getting let go and made you train your replacement.

Congrats to you.

Far from a Rocket Scientist, I started out 40 years ago, right out of the Marine Corp, pounding rivets on the shop floor. After about 10 years of working in the shop, I figured there were a lot better jobs in the industry and I needed to do something to fix the situation.

Went into Management and gave that up after having to go through my first layoff and having to cut damn hard working people and keep a few real duds just because of a seniority issue.

Then I taught myself how to code, took a few classes and been enjoying life and the pay scale ever since.

My new classification is going to be RETIRED

Have you any hobbies? Your gonna need something to keep sane over the years.... Or just go relax on the beach for the next 20 years that might work as well

Got lots of things planned after retirement. Main hobby is showing the wife's car and grandkids.

Plan on spending a little time at the Schooner Warf Bar in Key West, trip to Australia. I'll keep busy.
