Had a discussion among friends recently....safe, realistic speed on the highway.....let's say on I5, or on the Five, as it is called affectionately....anyway, there were answers from 70mph to 130mph, depending on the time of day, the section of road, and what the people drove (not just SRT folks)....ultimately, people defended positions based on their own personal set of what is appropriate....the guy at 70 thought the 80mph guy was an idiot, and the 80 thought the same about the 90, and so on......my opinion was that a 21 year old awesome driver was much safter at 120mph in a Viper than my grandmother at 60mph barely staying her her lane.....as usual, we never came to any real conclusion other than 10+ smart people (except for me), with 20 differing ideas, all based on their own idea of right and wrong....

There are people that can drive safely at 150, and those that are a danger at 25.

What's really bad is those that drive at 150 and think they can handle it, when in honesty, they are one of those that are a danger at 25.

Grandma is 97, actually you are gonna love this story....

Set-up - when my grandma was 82, she still drove her age in MPH on the highway and would curse at old people (those 30 years younger) for driving slow in the left lane....she was sharper than most women and actually and incredible driver.....anyway, the last 5 years have been tougher....she doesn't get around to well, needs a walker, has problems hearing, and isn't enjoying life as much because she cannot safely drive....

Well, her health has improved a bit, and Mom called me with some news the other day - she has her driver's license.....she duped the guy at the DMV....basically, she left her walker just outside their office and couraged her way to walk in and to the counter....I don't know how, but she passed the eye exam and whatever else she had to do.....walked out of there with a new DL at 97 :rock:

sure, can you not. I live in south east Texas and the land is as flat as the olson twins chest. So with that yes I could see that far in advance. Not saying that SINGLE only people are on the road but just like your reasoning neither should a family of 6 in suburban out getting ready to do thier running around. Again man don't try this crap with me. This truck is one of my slowest vehicles I own and runs in the 12's effortlessly. With regards to life I make my decisions wisely and have been trained in that. If the NHRA deems me worthy to propel a vehicle into and well past the 9's then by all means I think I am plenty capable of going 160mph. :dancing: :dancing: :dancing: :dancing:

i like to drive as fast as the next guy who owns one of these rockets. i mean hell...that's why we get a 500hp + truck. you never know when shit will happen. some one can ass end you at a stop light or grandpa can run you off the road at 80mph. or in my case a deer can run out in front of you on sunday night and destroy the front of your truck. thank goodness i was only doing 50mph. i guess now i have a reason to get those new headlights and 7 peice grill i've been wanting.
