has anyone here removed the factory qc hitch from there truck?i looked at mine and it looks like the frame is cut out for the round tube to fit in the frame.looks like i have to remove the back bumper to remove it.is this a fact?:dontknow:

DAMN! :( You're right! That is a LOT more complicated than it should be, under there.

Looks like the bumper, spare tire, exhaust hangers, and some other stuff has to come off to get the damn thing out!

Seems if I remember correctly, a friend found he had to loosen the bed and lift it to slide out the darn thing.

You must first remove the spare tire, then remove the side ground effects that go between the rear tires and the rear bumper, then remove the entire rear bumper assembly, then remove the 4 bolts holding the rear part of the bed to the frame, then jack the bed up at least 3 inches to slide the hitch assembly out. Once this is done you will need a non-hitch rear bar to put in its place, and put it all back together.

Piece of cake. :D

Bill.

Remember you will still need the non hitch bar to go in its place.

damn bill,i`m doing this for you....did not know the whole damn truck had to be dismantled.:p do you have the bar i need to replace mine?:dontknow:

Begood is right on the money and you will need the factory support to replace the hitch, won't work at all without it.

Why thank you sir, but I found one here for $60.00. I figured it would cost more than that to ship that heavy SOB.

I also forgot to mention that the 2 bolts that hold the right rear part of the bed on, are blocked by the exhaust system. It took me about 3 hours to do the swap.

Do you know if all of this has to be done to add a factory hitch onto a rc also? tia

You cannot remove the Hitch "support", it is welded and slid through the frame rails. You can remove the hitch itself...but without cutting, cant take the support out.
