Well I sold my crotch rocket today (02 GSX-R 600) as I don't ride it much anymore and have some toy money to play with. I plan on lowering the truck with an X-Metal 1/2 kit. After doing my research of reading prior threads a bump steer kit should not be needed for the drop I am considering.

I did purchase a set of rear sway bar links from John Stuttle this past fall with the intent to lower the truck. I've read of a few issues with his kit and am now questioning if its needed and if its needed if his kit is usable. Anyone know???

I hear the shocks that come with the X-Metal kit are Napa shocks that can be purchased for about $20 bucks a pop. How well do the X-metal shocks hold up against the QA-1's? Is it worth spending money on the QA-1's or just stick with what Boomer includes in his kit.

I also plan on purchasing some fang center caps for the rims, new brake pads to reduce dusting on all the rims. I am also looking at a Mopar Performance Stage 2 ECU, and finally a X-metal throttle body. I should be able to pickup all the goodies for right at 2K. What do you guys think?

The rest of the money I made off the bike will go to mods needed on other toys like my car and other bike, so the 10 can't have it all.

QA-1's are fully adjustable, Boomers are not. I can tell you from 2 days of road racing the QA-1s are the way to go for both drag racing and road racing. I think that the biggest reason I could keep up with the generally more nimble BMW Z4's and Porsches was because of the shocks! If you dont do a lot of racing you can still dial them in for everyday driving...soft, hard or somewhere in between. They are well worth the money if you do any kind of competitive racing both drag and road.

I have Boomers 1/2 drop on my truck as well and with the shocks performed very well. Hard to tell which made a greater impact but if I had to pick one I'd say the shocks due to the full adjustability for any track and/or road condition. Adjusting the tire pressure as well further enhanced the complete package on the track.

Cablefed - A little off topic, but how much did you get for your bike? I have an 03 CBR 600 RR that I'm going to sell but don't know where to price it at. What are older bikes bringing?:dontknow:

I was able to pull 5K out of my GSX-R. I have a limited edition Telephonica that had 27K miles on it. The bike was very clean and I was the only owner so I think the buyer got a good buy and I got a good price out of it.

Dave,

Did you have to add the bumpsteer kit to your truck when you lowered it? Also did you install any rear sway bar links? Last question...where did you get the QA-1's from? I appreciate any help. Cheers.

I bought the QA-1s and stage 3 traction kit from Justin. I believe Joe Donovan of PBJ installed the bumpsteer kit and rear sway bar links.
