Well....picked up my new TPS today and installed it. The truck runs as smooth as warm butter with no idle issues, truck fixed.

Now, yesterday I go to my local dealer and get introduced to the "Viper specialist". First of all, this guy looks like he's straight out of a trailer park where they forgot how to brush their teeth. No big deal, if he knows his shit. We start talking about my issues and I mention this (awsome) site and tell him my findings and the advise I was given. He said SRT-10's don't have TPS issues and that it's the wiring. He said my motor isn't the same one that's in the Viper, that it's a wet block and the Viper is a dry block. Not sure what that means but I'm guessing wet vs. dry sump, to which I know they are both wet sump. He goes on to tell me that the TPS is different from the Viper than the Ram. Ok, fine. I go into the parts department, check on the part numbers, they are the exact same. I take the printout to the "Viper specialist" and calmly tell him, I never want you working on my truck. I paid the parts department the $31 and change, changed the TPS in their parking lot in two mins with them watching and drove my perfectly running truck outta there. This site rocks!!!!

you did well, as that tech is a moron.

You should at least let us know the name of the dealership. It might save someone some time and money.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Sorry....it's Lee Dodge in Ft Walton Beach, FL.

I haven't had much luck finding dealers with SRT-10 knowledge, but I feel very confident that if you post your problem here, you will have some really good advice in less than a day!:)

That would be funny if it wasnt so damn scary.....

Guess I am lucky to have a good Viper tech do my warranty work here in Cary, NC.

Ya......did you see the memo about the TPS reports?

Sorry, first thing that came to my mind.

LOL.....I'm suprised it took this long for someone to mention this.

tech sounds like he was talking about his trailer on the wet/dry sump issue.:dontknow:

I'm Shaking my head while reading this....pathetic....I hope one day we get more then just 'parts swappers' into these dealership's.

Glad you got the the running good! :D

I think, for the most part, people who know what they are doing, open their own businesses or work in the aftermarket community.

The dealer in P-Cola seems to be pretty good. They cover my stuff under warranty even with the turbo.

First off I'm glad you tossed it back in his face ,he had it coming but seems there are a lot of real poor Tecs out there but why not look at the help some of the dealer have . I love to do what I do for a living and play dummie when I go in places like this and let them shove thier foot so far down thier throat they are back to standing flat footed <G>:D :D
I did have one who claimed to be a Viper tec and it could have been an honest mistake or he just has not worked on any of the trucks but he kept tring to talk me into letting him disable my skip shift :dontknow: :dontknow: ROFLMAO So till I find someone who knows more than I do and is Not brown eyed . I will just keep doing what I need done myself . Now I am not tring to burn all the tecs there are good ones out there , I just have not met too many .
Have A Kind Day
Mike

NIce work, i guess ill have to do that one myself to .......change the TPS that is....

Funny dealer experience today

I had ordered my other upper door seal and went to the dealer to pick it up today. Their parts department is set up so you are in the service area while standing at the window. The guy asked me what the vehicle was so I told him it was a RAM SRT-10. Apparently some of the techs heard me. As I got in my truck and was getting ready to back out of the parking space, I looked up and there was a technician's head in each of the six windows in the roll-up door looking at my truck. Looked like a Far-Side cartoon, but it was kind of cool! :D :D :burnout:

What's funny is that Dodge techs drool over their Vipers and Viper trucks when they come in. Chevy techs just walk right on by when a Corvette pulls in. Unless it was mine with the lumpy cam, procharger, headers, no cats and the cutouts open. Then they couldn't resist because it was so damn loud. LOL

Went to a very small Dodge dealer near my new home in northern Illinois in the fall...the place shut down to look at my truck, every wrench they had was out looking at the Roe Supercharger...kind of cool....hell it is the reason I have what I have!

The adulation is part of the mystique...and a huge amount of the reason we all have these testosterone producing trucks.

I just got my valve covers replaced under warranty because they were faded, needless to say I installed them myself. Luckily I have a good repore with them and they let me do it. They are a good dealership but I'm very anal about my stuff.
