Since the market took a crap this morning I decided to install the new TPS sensor on the Dakota ...
Once I found the right torx screwdriver it was a piece of cake .. I unplugged the connector , removed the 2 screws and its out .
I looked at the old one for a gasket and or O-ring and niether of them were on it . Hmmmm , the new one had both a gasket and a O-ring on it ! I decided to just install it anyway ! Put it in the hole turned slightly to the right and turned it back to the left to line up the bolt holes .. put the screws in and tightened them down . Started the truck and varoooooom the idle was at 1800 rpm .. I let it idle for a few minutes and the idle came down slightly the up and down a little ... I checked for codes, none .
Well went back and pulled the new one and removed the gasket and left the o-ring on and bolted it back on .. I fired the truck back up and the idle was perfect .l took it for a drive and no problems except it definately felt better and more responsive on the gas pedal ..I checked codes again and all clear without that idiot light on the dash .
The old TPS in the pic . As you can see there is no o-ring and the gasket is from the new one removed ! Why the O-ring was not there is beyond me ! It wasmthe factory part !
Give me the old days with a carburater damn it . I would rather adjust metering rods , change jets , mixture, idle screws and set floats !
CALL ME MR. GLITCH ,, everything has been turning into a pain in the ask these days .........
