Well I finally was able to get to the track for the first time since I bought my truck last month. 04 RC. CAI, Rear cat delete, X pipe and magnaflow mufflers. Lets just say it was a disaster. My best pull was a 13.67 1/4 mile at 103 MPH. I couldnt get it to hook to save my life. No matter which way I tried launching it would spin like a SOB so I would have to get out of it and get back into it and then it would spin/ wheel hop like hell shifting into 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear so I feel confident that im losing a good second on my time just by all of that. I for sure need to get some better tires as the ones on there are junk and im in the works of some traction bars but any other info on how to get better traction will be greatly appreciated to where I can get my truck into the 12's as she sits since I know for a fact that the power its got is very capable of that.

Did you adjust tire pressures at all?

Yea I started out at 25lbs and then went down to 20lbs. Didnt help either way which I know alot of that are the crappy nexen tires thats on it but still. After about 5 passes and doing everything each time that I explained above I just quit running it. Was no need to keep on until I done something to be able to get some better traction cause it should be in the 12's all day long. When it would spin/wheel hop when shifting gears it almost felt like it was gonna shake me out of the truck and it shouldn't be doing that at all and is also hurting my time along with the major time lost of the launch with it spinning and me having to get out of it and then get back into it. I tried launching 5 different ways and ended up with the same results each time

Can you post up the breakdown of your best run? 60ft, 1/8 mile e/t and mph, etc. one other thing I do that has proven to be effective is raising front tire pressure to about 45-50 psi as well. Reduces rolling resistance.

Yea let me see if I can find the time slip real quick and I will post up a pic of it. I had never heard of raising front tire pressure but that makes alot of sense and I will have to try that next time for sure.

Try to not power shift hard between gears and slip clutch on launch and you'll pick up some. You need slicks. Nobody is expected to plant street tires with 500+ hp. Wheelhop is the main killer of spider gears and rear ends so limit that as well. Otherwise have fun.

I dont know why it posted the pic twice but I was wrong on the MPH on the original post. You can see though how much I was spinning by the very embarrassing 2.390 60ft times. My time is the one on the left

Im hoping to some how get rid of some of that wheel hop between shifts and yea I know its impossible to get some street tires to plant but these tires wont plant whatsoever even on the street worth a flip. I will for sure have to get some slicks or DR and man I was feathering the clutch like crazy it seemed like but I know thats alot of HP and TQ touching the ground so its gonna take some good mods to help her out a little

You ran great against whatever was next to you! You could shave a second off with slicks honestly. Your getting off the line troubles and wasted time spinning between gears is slowing you down badly.

Yea I def feel like im losing a good second for sure but its embarrassing for me to say that who was next to me was my buddy in an infiniti G37 with a V6. I should have smoked his doors off and if my problems were fixed then I would have. I just need to get her tuned with the right mods for traction and I will be alot happier for sure as far as my track times. The power and torque is there...just need to get it to stick to the ground. Its def a powerhouse and considering how much it was spinning, I guess 13.6 isnt a bad number.

I pull 1.9 60' on streets, your truck has a mid 12 in it. The way I determine my traction limit is on my first run I pull out like from a stop sign or red light, then roll into the throttle. Increase launch rpm by 500 rpm until it spins, then back it off slightly. You can get these trucks to hook on street tires mildly modded but once you put any real power to it you need better tires.

Honestly you should have made a couple more passes, work on the driver mod and the only way to do that is seat time.

I hope to have more time next time I go and I will try that for sure. I feel the same way that its a mid 12 truck all day long if I can ever get it to hook right.

I completely agree and I hope to make it back down there here real soon. Ive always been a really good driver and I can drive the hell out of this thing on the street but I know the track is alot different story on top of it being on the track with it for my first time last night

I had the same problem the first trip i made to the track-but i had the factory 8 year old tires. I ran a 13.6 @ 104 and spun/wheel hopped thru the first 2 gears-thats the reason i asked. I put some new toyo's on it and all the rest of the mods thats in my sig but ive not been back to track yet.
