Most of you have seen my lists of toys that I recently ordred from Boomer... even though he did tell me that as long as I did not race too much my tranny would be fine.. I decided not to chance it... I figured since I had already spent $13,300 on Boomer and DC Performance stuff... what was another $3,000k to do it right.....I really did not want to spend the money.. but figured it was a good investment...

So the truck went over to Lee Myles in Surprise today, after the manager and I talked yesterday and today for about 2 hours.

Its getting:

1. Entire Tranny being inspected for weak parts, and those being replaced with all heavy duty parts.... even thought it only has 6k on it.. he will go through the entire tranny piece by piece and replace what they think it will need to hold the HP, Torque, and abuse that I will be throwing at it.

2. New Valve Body

3. Trans-Go Shift Kit

3. Upgraded Pump

4. Billet Custom made 2300rpm stall converter.

6. Some valving that will allow fluid to flow even in park.

6. 12mo/12,000 mile warranty (I might be able to talk them into a 24/mo-24k warranty.

There was some other stuff being done to it.. but I can not remember the list off the top of my head. But basically it will be a heavily built tranny when its done on Friday.

Total around $3k or so...

Sounds like a good price.:)

Mine is costing me above 6K with a stall converter, but it is a whole new system rated way above my future mods, unless I install a flux capacitor at 1.21 Gigawatts.

New Stainless BBQ, with 850sq of cook area.
New Landscaping for house
Flagstone front porch and sidewalk
KoolDeck Coated Sidewalk, and Rear Deck
Garage Cabinets (16 feet x 96" tall), and (48" x 36")
100 amp electrical circuit into my garage
Complete cleaning of my AC vents, and service to house AC units.

Good Man...now you wont have double down time.

Well.. I am driving a Chevy Cobalt (ick!!) gutless rental car while the tranny is being worked on...

But basically they are going through all the hard parts in the tranny and replacing them with upgraded components... as well as anything else that might look like it could fail with the extra HP....

I failed to mention that they also are replacing the planetary gears as well... now I am no tranny guy.. but they tell me that on these 48RE's, there is some internal component in the front assembly that is aluminum, that consistently breaks when there is extra "abuse" on the tranny whether that be hotter motor, or driving habits.. but I dont recall what that part name was... its being replaced with an identical hardened steel piece.

Did u get a flash from boomer? You might have to send it back to get "calmed down" a little. I had to because i was gettin detonation or Pinging at low rpm's under load.

No, the flash came directly from DC... I will ask Boomer about it.. and see what he says...

that and you had knuckle heads tuning it;) :D

That Is TRUE....but the pinging was from "winter blend gas" is the cockamamy story I was told....You can either run a little race gas or octane booster. Wasnt Gary's fault...its our gas stations bullshitting us on the octane...Hey Gary what was the MON/RON deal you were tellin me about.

Ok.. here is the final list of what is being done with my tranny, and the total price:

$1172.00 - Custom Billet Torque Converter - w/2300 stall
$346.47 - Trans Go Shift Kit
$245.60 - HD Band and Lever/Strut, 10% Wider Band, Kevlar.
$21.00 - 2 Bottles Lube gard
$59.95 - New Fluids
$593.00 - All new Kevlar HD rebuild kit, clutches,
high temp steel components, etc..
$1190.00 - Labor - Remove, Rebuild, and Reinstall.
--
Total: $3630.00

There was another option, be opted against it, a company in the East coast makes all billet steel input shaft, mid shaft, and output shafts, that are used on drag trucks, pullers, this would be custom made for my tranny.... but they had a cost of $7-9k!!!! I said I did not think that I would need those..

Have him put an oversized finned pan on as well. will really help the cooling....and it is fairly cheap....
