tranny is out. now i need some info

i pulled my tranny out cuz i have to swap tail shaft to be able to mount vibration damper but a few days ago my tranny started to whine in 1-3 pretty noticeable compared to when i first got the truck (2 weeks ago). so i'll be tearing the trans down to see what it could be, but wondering if there is anything i should upgrade and if there is a bearing (and what not) rebuild kit? so far the reverse and 5-6 gears look to be ok but dont know about rest.

anyone have any tips on how to get the 5-6 gear out? been trying with two different pullers i have at the shop but no luck. i'm waiting till tomorrow to go to a shop across the street to see what they have. its very frustrating to have a small problem hold you up.

Also anyone know where i can get the two magnets inside the trans that collects all metal debris? looks like my previous owner was inside the trans and never put them back in.

Make sure to replace the plastic fork pads with bronze ones on all forks including reverse.
