I have been searching these forums till i cannt see straight, can someone please tell me where to order the tranny transduicer and the stuf i need to put in whle in changing the fluids anyway going w transgo sofra now what else do i need to beef up just a little...:dontknow:

For the parts you are looking for try here:
http://www.transmissionpartsusa.com/A618_48RE_transmission_solenoids_s/10580.htm

My suggestion is to contact Dusty at HTS and look into getting a valve body and some other parts, like shift lever, billet accumulator, beefed up front band, and new clutches. If you are experiencing delayed shifts (hang on 2-3 upshift) your front clutches are most likely being smoked if not shot already.

Not sure if you are having problems or just looking to do some preventative maintenance on your trans. No one has had anything positive to say about the shift kit that I have seen, so not sure what to tell you on that route. What I listed above will do what the shift kit could do and more. You are talking around $300-$400 (not including labor) in parts to beef up your trans and make it shift hard and solid. Depending on your plans you could also send the trans out and have it done up nice.

Thank you all, now im really confused, i have read some posts here where people said they put the transgo shift kit in and it really improved shifting, im going to go w whatever you all tell me though, i oedered a GM conversion selionoid, transgo kit, and this 5V. 42RH / RE, 47RH / RE, 48RE, 904, 727 Throttle Valve Kit. Fixes shift timing concerns and throttle buzz, cures late 2-3 upshifts, reduces oversensitive 3-2 downshifts. Hardened steel throttle valve kit restores worn valve body, works best in heavy-duty / towing applications. Repairs excessive throttle valve and sleeve wear. This Sonnax repair kit both salvages valve body and restores throttle control. Full throttle shift points can be lowered or raised with this kit up to 5400 RPM. I guess i will need to send it all back. I do have a 48re tranny right. Thanks you all for chiming in!! :)

Yea you have the 48RE in the auto, same as a Diesel........Not really sure about the shift kits, I've heard bad things about some of them...a nice rebuild will consist of adding additional clutch packs, new gears, springs, bands, lever, solenoid, valve body, reman torque convertor, and a few other goodies

You don't need the shift kit and the valve body. Try to cancel the shift kit or just sell it later.

Slvsnake has a HTS upgrade he can atest to the quality and knowledge that goes into Dusty's products.

If you bought that all from patc you are golden and it can all be done during the oil change.

Good buys buddy. And I won't say "good luck" cause you don't need it;)

** also some or all of the people that had shift kits removed them.....

PATC is where i got it from, i just wanted to put some parts in that wouldnt require dropping the tranny, that might keep it from doing some of the things folks on here have had problems with, also i would like to get firmer shifts, that s why i wanted the shift kit, i shouldnt put it in though, that sucks i would love to make it hit harder..thanks for your input guys..:argh:

Can the 4.2 lever be put in w/o dropping the trans?? Does it help it shift firmer???

Why don't you start with the easier less expensive stuff like new fluids and filters, solenoid and go from there...if you still have problems then you need to keep going....if it gets to the part where you start opening the tranny up big time you might as well just do the upgrades

Scott i try to stay ooutta the tranny deal these days due to being the blunt end of a mule,

but kicken is given you good advice, dont go spending hundreds yet,

change out the solonoid, patc has the upgrade or Kickings tranny guy did him a good deal also.

the solonoid is the biggest crapper in the oem tranny, change it, and your fluids and tighten up your bands, and see how she does.

now alot of folks say the shift kit is junk , but there are alot of them out there working just fine.

iwould contact dusty or the guy that kicken uses, and go from there, but dont open up a can of worms unless you intend on going fishing;)

I have the Gm conversion seliniod coming, still need fluids, maybe a deeper pan, still have not found the filter or transducer thingy, and also what will make the trans shift hader i want some neck snaping going on, Thanks.

i can get you the pan pretty decent, double or just deeper, the other, talk to a few tranny shops, the gm conversion I think patc is the only one that has them

You thinking about doing this now that you know Cowboy has that A/C'd shop huh? :D
Let me know if you need help and I'll try to clear out a day on the weekend to come down. At the very least to help you drink some beer.

Jeff

I was going to take it to benton transmission im scared to tear into the tranny myself even if it is just fluid and a few bolt in parts.. I would like someone to help me w the plugs and wires though i would buy the beer and lunch.:dontknow:

I got the the neck snappin going on at all shifts even on the highway..:D :D
stinker is right I believe all solenoids are ordered through patc......i spoke to dusty when I first had the problems, and he knows his sh*t inside and out...I would have went to him except my guy was local and done through warranty work (plus he was working on 2 other Ram SRT-10's, a viper w/ auto conversion, and also some dodge diesels, so I gave him a shot and he hit a HR)
Just in-case you want his opinion too here's all his info www.atfspeed.com

Oh yeah cowboy and Razor and kyle r deffinatly on my call for advice list, i did order the gm selinoid from patc, plus some ther little parts from them, i just need the filter and transducer and pan now..

get the double deep pan these transmissions are destroyed by excessive heat & the solenoid is a throw away item and should be changed during band adjustments and fluid change, also if your hard on the throttle bands should be adjusted every 5-6000 miles IMO
