I had the truck for 3 days when the clutch went out, a quick search of the boards netted many trucks with the same problem. I went to the dealership and they had it for a week (750miles on it), new clutch and slave. This was friday, I drove it home and all seem good, today I got in and noticed that I can't downshift to first unless I am completely stopped. If I am rolling, even at less than 5mph, and I try to go into first it grinds BAD. I was wondering if anyone has an idea of what it could be, I was thinking a syrnozier(sp?) but at 1200 miles? I guess I will know monday...

Sounds like a disengagement problem, back to the dealer to have them check for air bubbles, master/slave problems, or pressure plate issues. I would just upgrade to the centerforce package (w/ viper master & slave) and call it a day...

The clutch was replaced, with the new one it has started this grinding crap.

You must make the decision to go to the Centerforce clutch, and while you are there, go with the Fidanza light-weight flywheel, and the Viper slave and master cylinder.

You will end up there eventually...might as well go there now, many of us have.

I was the first gear syncro. So far I have had the truck for 6 days and the shop has had it for 13... and counting

You didnt have the problem till after the new clutch was installed....And they said it was a syncro? Were you having problems with the old clutch also downshifting?

It started as soon as they put the new clutch in. Right before the clutch went out(the peddle went soft and it was stuck in gear) I made a funny noise, not really grinding but more of just metal fling-ing apart.

Today CLEARLAKE DODGE(never will use them again, including our commerical accout (over one million in truck purchas last year)) called me and said my truck was ready. They only replaced the scryo's in first, after they said they were replacing the whole tranny(we argued about this and they said they were not going to do the whole thing). When he call he said that it was on a test drive and that they would have it back by the time I got there. About ten min later I get another call from the same guy(billy) and he says they are going to replace the whole thing now and I ask what happen. He wouldn't tell me so I drove up there. The service manger (matt cummings, who I argued with about them not replacing the whole thing) is not there so I just walk to the back and find my truck, its up on a rack and there is the viper tech working under it. Now they had said the reason that the clutch went out, and then the scryo is because it was "having the shit run out of it" and there was "evidence it was being raced". So I talked to the tech and he said it came apart on the test drive, no first or 2nd gear. I walked back up front and wait for and hour and a half to talk to matt. Then I asked why he let his tech's go hot rod rod my truck, because by his own words that was the only way it could have broke the first time. He gave some bs story, and then said they were going to replace the whole thing like they should of the first time... but they would need my truck untill the end of next week!!!! which means I have had it for 3 days and they are going to be coming up on 3 weeks!!! 2500 miles. I think I should of just kept my old truck.

Five star my ass!!!
I get the truck and have it for three days.....they get it for a week and a half... I get it back on a friday and it's still not right...towed to a dealer on monday AGAIN and have it for a week, adn they BLAM ME!!! than the break it(poor workmanship or they were driving the crap out of it) and now they are going to have it another week...
