So me and the family are going down I10 headin home. Theres some slow movers ahead, we are dong 65. So I punch it to get ahead of the 45 mph'ers.

It lagged alittle, accelerating in 4th for a min, then it went into second somewhere around 70 plus.

When It hit second it hit the rev limiter HARD> Sounded like second gear didn't hold.............................. So I'm thinking the worst, about what I'm going to trade it in on *caliber srt4*.

Well I didn't give up, and when I got down to 20 we hit it, she shifted into 1st and went like hell, second gear came with a jerk to the side and third damn near barked. did this a few times and all is well

It just shifted when it souldn't have, alittle to close to 5950,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

That would get your attention in a hurry! With the issues we have had with the automatic transmission.

Good to hear that it was only a scare. I would have had skid marks in my shorts after that!

My truck has 18,000 miles on it and untill recently 3 times since about 10,000 miles it has done that from about a 45 mile roll while passing someone, it acted like a false neutral. I took it in and had the tranny oil changed and the band adjustment done and wow what a difference. Before it shifted hard while cold but when it warmed up it would be a softer shift from 1st to 2nd but now it doesnt matter how many miles or how warm she is she shifts hard every single time and no slipping as of yet. I am so relieved.

Yeah guys I think it's the stage 2, the shift point and the rev limiter are too close in some situations.

And yes, because I had the dealer put the 4.2 lever and servo blocker into the tranny at overhaul. To witch the tech told the service writer I'll do it but if it blows................................. To witch I said, you know that is the same tech that said second gear didn't work because of the valve body, I'll take my chances with the expert that told me to buy these parts. I shit my pants, right up until it went side was at the 50 mph shift.

Then the cosmos re-aligned and the world was right once more....................... THANK GANISH AND PRAISE BE TO HIM!

LoL

Bigike, that lever might be messing up your shift points. Just something to consider. Since you have the upgraded valve body it might be worth it to try the correct lever.

I was having trans isues but am lucky enough to have tech working on it who did not like what he was seeing with my trans and gave it the heave ho. Now I have a new one installed. Only has 230 miles on it so I am keeping off it for now until in breaks in a bit. The new is way better than the old one and so far seems ok.
