Have no idea on 2 peddle trucks but on an auto, the 48re if the temp goes shy high have you not already done serious damage? :dontknow: Maybe shutting it down would save some parts but figure if mine got that hot I would opt to replace all the innards.

Hey now, only one tranny temp thread at a time! :D What are you referring to? Did this happen to someone, or just a general question? Either way, I wouldn't know. :dontknow:

Not that I am aware of but just wondering. When temp got out of sight I would figure you have already smoked the thing. :dontknow:

This thread came from your question. Just not sure the gauge would help. Although-----the water temp gauge has saved me a lot of grief. Add water or slow down and my temp goes down but just not sure that the damage has already been done in a tranny.

I hear ya. I wanted one just so I can make sure I filled up the correct amount of tranny fluid after I adjusted the bands, and because I installed the deeper Mag-Hytec pan. There is that graph that shows what the fluid level should be at a certain temperature. Other than that, it's just some pretty lights.
