Tranny Upgrades

If you need a tranny w/o putting your truck down for a week, Suncoast will ship you one, pull old out, install in truck, and ship old one to them. I had mine done in a day.

I may be selling my built Suncoast soon for less than a new one from them, and mine is brand new, never in the truck. If you would be interested let me know.

Reccomend getting a torque converter from Joe in Cali. If I keep mine I will be ordering one.

Well,
I just got home from tranny shop. They put the computer on my truck and took her for a drive. They told me it was my Govenor Pressure Solenoid. The pressure was reading all over the place.

For grins they dropped my pan, and it is loaded with band material. So we ordered up all new goodies for a rebuild. I get the solenoid done on Monday. The full on billet build will be on the week following. I will hold off on the dyno till after.

Scrambler,
I spoke with Suncoast today. They felt it would cost me 800 in shipping to get it here. That is a little more than I want to pay for shipping. So I am gambling my hard earned money on a local shop. I hope I am not a fool, time will tell.

See if they will give you a 90 day warranty...worth asking anyway...if they will give you 30 that is probably good enough to find out if what they have done is going to hold.

sounds like the right plan....the stock 2nd gear band is crap... ...that Solenoid went batty on my truck too

Do you think it is worth while to dyno after the solenoid is fixed, or should I wait till I have the tranny rebuilt.

Dynoing now would let me send the dyno file to Roe, so I can get my custom tune (while waiting for the tranny build). Then I can test it after the tranny upgrade.

I doubt you will see any significant difference in dyno between now and after the build....

the dyno will be in 3rd gear and with a "roll on" the throttle...the gear will hold....it is the 2nd gear shifts and 3rd under full throttle that slip....the new trans will run cooler (larger pan) and be more efficient (lighter 'verter) but this just doesn't show on the dyno....however it will build rpms faster....

I've taken my truck to the dealer TWICE to have the tranny checked.... I KNOW it's slipping, but they say "It's fine" and "You still have plenty of warranty left"... I'm getting so SICK of being literally jerked around in parking lots and low-speed driving.

I think I might just go with an aftermarket.... :dontknow: But, the damn thing is still "stock". Any suggestions on next steps to deal with the dealer(s)? :dontknow:

I was thinking of taking it in there and TELLING THEM to tighten the bands... then if they, in fact, DO need to tighten them.... THEN tell them it should have been covered under warranty?
