On an automatic your temp gauge will likely run anywhere from 140-180 during normal driving and may spike slightly higher when stuck in traffic, and usually moves with the ambient temperature. If it starts to get above 210 its time to look into a larger cooler and above 225 can mean that you are starting to take damage.
