Finished the install a few minutes ago and started putting fluid in the trans---the manual says to add approx. 4 qts to fill it up ...So far I have added 11 qts.....Does removing the valve-body cause it to drain all or most of the fluid? I still need to add a quart or 2 more to fill it to the proper level......and adjust the external front band adjustment ----it seems to be shifting very well though....

Yes......
When I did mine I think I added around 13 Qts.

They should correct that in the service manual hahahaha ----back to walmart I go ---ATF-4

Just went a got the last 3 qt's of atf-4 from walmart----it took 12 1/2 quarts to top it off --a far cry from 4 qts as the service manual states...
I notice that the shifts are much more crisp and firm and higher shift points...1-2 shift is at 16 mph instead of 12 mph ---I was getting a rpm rev-up at start off in drive (only) prior to the install,,it has lessoned...I have yet to do a wot test---cops are radaring the area....I drilled the 2 holes for the firmer shifts.....and to think I only had 1 bolt and one spring left over hahahaha (kidding)
Recommend having a good memory and some trans experience to install yourself....a lot of pieces fall out ---took about 4 hours to complete...

Wait I know the stage 2 Increases the shift points. So your saying the trans go Increases the shift points even more than the stage 2??? So that must improve your E.T.

Annu , I'm not sure about the stage 2......i'm useing the stock PCM and looking into the SCT tuner....need to get a deal on one....Yes, it raised my shift points and eliminated that double dragging shift feel.....I can actually feel the rear tuck down when it shifts now----can't wait to test wot....:)

Stock Computer???? wonder how it will perform with the stage 2

From what I saw at Mickey's Dyno Day last weekend, the SCT programmer is the way to go for sure !!!

Annu ---I will find out how it will perform with the SCT Programer, depending on the vendors having a deal or group buy....But for now I'm going to enjoy the much better shifting....and I mean much better...:)
Would recommend the transgo shift kit to anyone....made my trans feel like it is supose to......

Would you by chance have the part # for the shift kit ??

Dennis-----The kit I have is-----SK48-RE,, trans-go shift kit for 2003-2006 Diesel and V-10

It should shift a little firmer. Upgrades the springs and valve body.

Suncoast keeps them in stock, as does Moesperformance.com. Both are not forum vendors however. I don't know of a forum vendor who carries them. Inexpensive upgrade nonetheless.

I beleive the kit was just short of $70 dollars shiped----installed myself= zero dollars + 13 quarts ($4.47 plus tax per) of atf4 and $30 dollars for a new gasket and filter plus $18.00 for a set of torx head sockets from discount auto

Great info.Gotta check into this.My next mod!! Not knowing jack chit about transmissions what do you think a trans place would charge to put he kit in?

The 15,000 mile service plus TransGo kit and installation cost me $425. It's a great upgrade if for no other benefit than improved driveability.
