Will be installing a Transgo shift kit and was wondering if anyone has any advice. Any do's and don't's? From what I understand, the instructions from Transgo are pretty good. Just wondering if anyone had a write-up or advice? Thanks for the help, as usual. :)

A lesson learned from messing with my trans: pay somebody (that knows WTF they're doing) to do it:D

Have fun:burnout:

best thing i did for my trans, been running it for over 2 years with no issues. Install is easy, just follow directions to a T. Takes a few hours.

Take some pics of the install. Let us know how easy or hard it is!

And benefit to doing this to a mostly stock truck?
higher line pressure, better clutch engagement , less slippage and longer life

Haven't installed one in a 48re, but have done a number of Trans-Go kits in other vehicles... extremely easy. As someone above said, take your time, follow the instructions... it really isn't hard.

You'll make a mess with trans fluid, I'm sure, but other than that it is something most anyone can do.

Wonder how it would work with a performance tune like DC or Roe? I have a Roe tuned SCT, and I know line pressure has already been increased (which also helps with significantly less slippage on shifts). Might have to back that down some on the electronic side if I put in a shift-kit ... which is taking care of that manually.

its best to change fluid, filter, your governor solenoid, adjsut the bands at the same time,

I am trying to put together a complete kit,

but honestly unless you are really good with tools, do yourself a favor , have a tech or a professional put it in, one nicked oring or forgotten BB and you will cause yourself a ton of headaches

the transgo kit has some adjustability, it will take some playing with most likely, but he sct or tunes dont increase the line pressure too much, jsut a little by the pcm, but you would most likly go with the lesser of the adjustments

Do not install the part that raises the shift points. It could be the cause of a few of us hitting the rev limiter on a pretty consistently.

Dont get scared. It'll be over soon sweet cheeks. I promise, I'll make it as quick and painless as possible, because I actually like you.:elefant: Now, if it were Dan, I would drag it out as much as I could.
