Now Sept. 09', I'm having the same issues. The overhaul was performed here in Cola. SC at Dodgeland. I have 38,100 miles on the truck. I take very good care of it, always inthe garage. Driven mostly on the weekends. I do not race my truck at all. Can someone tell me if their having these same issue's. Is there a recall on the transmission? I would greatly appreciate any info. Thankyou, SRT fanatic
Alright, here is what you have to do first. Go to the main part of the site where it lists all of the forums, General Discussion, Racing, etc. Goto search and type "48RE". Start reading, you are going to find a great deal of information here. I.e. GM solenoid upgrades, built transmissions, gov solenoids, band adjustments, swapping valve body and parts out (Dusty - HTS Transmissions) etc. Not trying to be smart here, just way too much to try and list in a post. It is decision you have to make for your particular situation.
If I were a betting man from the overhaul description I say your bands got fried and smoked the clutches. If you noticed delayed shifts in the past from 2-3 under wide open throttle, probably the case. Try to think back to weird things the trans did before it started going south. This problem is related to the valve body, shift lever, and timing. Just playing out one scenario for you. Like I said it is different for everyone.
I highly recommend you sit down and read through the posts on the 48RE.
