So I'm sitting here trying to decide how to respond to this person. I do not view him as a soldier anymore, let alone an officer. He voluntarialy joined the Army. And now he decides that it isn't what he wants. Too many young men and women have served and died so he could have a voice, and he decides to use it like this. What a shame. What a waste. After spending 22 years in the service, I have seen some great men and women do some extraordinary things. They did it selflessly and bravely, while only following orders. I had 6 trips to Saudi in the 90's. While I wasn't in combat I was at Khobar Towers during the bombing in 96. What I saw and experienced that night will live with me for the rest of my life. This guy joins up knowing what it could mean. Especially during the time that he did. Post 9/11 and terrorist activities, and the problems with Iraq. He had to have known what was comming. And if he didn't, then he isn't smart enough to be an officer. Much less and enlisted person. I'm ashamed of him....
