Have any others had trouble getting into first gear from a stop? If I come up to a light and put it into neutral I have trouble getting it back into first when the light goes green. It does not happen all of the time, but it is getting more frequent.

I had the clutch changed under warranty and have just over a thousand miles on the new clutch. The shifting has been stiff everI just rolled 2700 miles this morning.
:dontknow:

Sometimes I would have to let the clutch slip a little before the gear engages. I have that happen once in a while, not too sure what the cause is. I have 11000 mi. on my stock clutch.

Mine has done this since day one. On few occasions, it won't go into first if in neutral. I just double clutch(push clutch to floor, let up, and back to the floor) and it always goes into first after that. Doesn't happen that often, and it's just one of the things I live with.

You may have some air in the lines not letting enough presure get to the slave cylinder to put enough pressure on the pressure plate and disengage the clutch.
check the fluid, make sure it still looks clean.

Other than that its possible the fingers on the clutch are not working properly.

.

I remember reading about needing to bled the lines to cure this problem before. There is a sticky on how to properly bled your clutch lines posted by Boomer.

When she won't go into first, let-out the clutch pedel ever-so-slowly, until she goes in...trust me.
There are about 50/things going on in the trans. when you ask for first gear.
She'll go-in.

This is a six/speed! lol

I dont have trouble at all with first gear but i do have trouble down shifting from third to second...:( :dontknow:

Two things it could be. One is the clutch issue that others have mentioned.

The second is that sometimes the teeth on the slider and the teeth on the synco are lined up such that they are point to point and catch. It's rare, but it does happen. When you let out the clutch in neutral and then push it back in things spin around, and that is why it will then engage.

If you go out and romp on it hard and it gets worse it's your hydraulic fluid. Either you have air in it or its getting close to the Cats or exhaust and it's heating up the fluid!!

I had the same issue, I had them re bleed the line and put in Motul 600, havn't had a problem since!!:D

Thanks for all of the replys.

I'm going to bleed it this weekend and see what happens.

Personally, I think it's the old deficient clutch hydraulic pressure, plastic slave, heat issue.....

I pulled all the hair out of my head with this......

4 clutches, 2 flywheels and 2 trannies later it wasn't fixed....

Wasn't until I did the Viper Coupe clutch hydraulics mod that the problems stopped altogether..... 10,000 miles later and still working fine......on the stock clutch and flywheel.......Re-routing and sheilding the lines is a great idea too.....Dan Cragin did mine...

Do the mod....
