Hey guys. I just got my B&M Ripper and am having a helluva time getting the stock shift knob to come off. All I've done is knarl up the flat areas under the knob. Is there any trick to getting this thing removed? Also, for you '06 guys with a different shifter, where are the screws you take off to remove the console? The instructions are only for the '04s and '05s. Thanks.

you have to pull up on the carbon fiber part of the console. it is held with clips. then there are 3 screws underneighth that. at least thats how it is in my automatic

Thanks. I got both done now. What a PITA. I still haven't got the last bolt off of the rubber piece that fits around the shifter base and is under the carpet. Thanks again.

i only found out cause of frustration and was gonna rip the damn thing out after 4 hours of dismantling the dash to get the nav installed

I wrapped the nob with a towel and used a giant set of channel locks, and voila! No marking at all. I would also guess one of those rubber strap wrenches might work as well.

I think there is a keeper. A round thingy with 2 flat spots to get a wrench on. Break that loose and then just unscrew the ball. I have taken mine off a few times with no problems.
