Truck is dying

After it sits for a while, it fires up just fine then dies. Push the button again and everything is normal. Could it be a TPS sensor or something. I am not worried about it. Should I be? I figure it is from sitting static for a while. I just don't why it happens:dontknow:

It starts just fine, like normal. But when the rpms come up initially and then drops to idle speed is when it dies.

BTW what did you decide to get for the anniversary?

The first time it happened the truck sat for three weeks. Then it sat for a little over one week and died twice on start up. Weather has been colder also. But I would think with FI compared to carb. cold weather is a non issue.

Only when it sits for a while. It doesn't do it when the motor is warm.

Yeah, I would imagine if it went bad then it would happen consistently.

I tried (unsuccessfully) the Viper key mod and it was 100% that it started and promptly stopped. Gave up on that one, but I have a cool ass "unlock the keys out of the truck" key. :rock:

Ya know..............That is what I should do. I am terrible at locking my keys in the truck. Whenever I go out of town I always put a key in my pocket and leave it there.

Those are some pretty bad A$$ keys:rock:

this is going to be a chuck in the woods, but when stored or unrun for a few weeks or months you really need a battery tender to keep the battery fresh.

It could be the battery sitting dormant for so long, I have run into that before:dontknow:

Interesting. I would pull the battery out of the motorcycle during winter. But the low temps have been around 30 or so.

The battery seems ok. It doesn't crank any slower than normal. But I might have to give that a wirl.

Only reason I say that is on our Vette we found if it was left sitting for a month or so , the battery would almost die, the internal computer was still working to a small degree with the securty measures.
So Just thinking possibly the Ram could be dormant too long, dont know just taking a shot out there

Something to think about for sure. I bought the truck used and the person I bought it from only had it for a month. Before that it just sat at the dealer. Last winter I didn't have a problem with it.

It can't hurt to try it out.

Battery tenders rock i have one on everything i own. And stink is right about the computer cycling i can hear mine throught the speakers.

Slow and long. Still fighting it. We were going to back off and pull about 5000' and re run some new casing. Then it looked like the casing was backing out around 2300'. Also while trying to free point it would not release the torque. Kinda looked like it was torqueing up the boxes and might split them. So right now we are going to set cement plugs, and pretty much have cement from 2300' to surface.

That sucks is your well directional? are you having rig problems why couldnt you get torque down down to your free point spot?

Well is Vertical, and yes there have been some rig problems, like the day before the casing slips broke and had to wait on them. Then the mud crossover would not test. Got another one and it was a 5,000 lb instead of 10,000. The crap just never stops.

We could get a few turns in and would not get any turns back.

I feel ya buddy ive had those days & those wells. The next one will be better.

I thought I read something in the Viper forums of a similar problem and somehow it was tied to the battery. If the battery isnt up to snuff something in the computer goes bad and causes a few problems similar to yours. I'll try and find it.
