Truck leaking from EVERYWHERE....HELP!!

Stingray said:
That's definitely trans fluid at the back of the trans. Your other fluid in the front :dontknow: Maybe antifreeze.

Anti-freeze..yes that could be it as well, possible coolant leak..You just need a good tech to look at it in person

The red fluid might be power steering fluid, i'm not sure though. It could be coming from the eng cooling fan. My fan is starting to kind leak. If you get underneath the truck and look straight up you might see some there coming out the fan. The fans on our truck are hydraulic driven. This is the only thing that comes to mind for that front red oil leak(besides dip stick)

You know what:idea: ......I have been having troubles with my fan turning on...hence the over heating issue I have been having....you guys are alot of help and I appreciate it a bunch.....I'm thinking maybe the "red fluid" may be coming from the fan????:dontknow:
I also want to thank you guys for not making fun of me:D I'm not very bright on mechanics.

bikertat, I'm not sure how far away Danville is from me but I'd be happy to take a look at your leaks for you. And maybe fix them if possible ;) I am near the WI/IL boarder in Woodstock. (BTW, I'm a tech at a GM dealership)

I'm about 3.5 hours south of the WI/IL border.....I'm just not sure how much more I should drive this until I get it looked at:dontknow:

I understand you not wanting to drive your truck. My offer still stands though :)

Pull your power steering reservoir cap and see if that's low since you said the fan is acting up too. You can check the trans fluid level by removing the fill plug on the side of the trans. The level should be at the bottom of the hole or near it.

your coolant (you can see it in the overflow tank) has a reddish color....is it that color...?.....get some of the leaked fluid on your fingers...you will beable to tell if it is hyd. fluid...

Go to your local auto store, get some ultra violet leak detector and put some in the power steering unit, drive it and hit it with a black light. The ultraviolet dye should show where it is coming from. They make similar products for the transmission, engine and the a/c unit (freon type for a/c). Ask the guy at the store which ones to get. Clean your surfaces before each test....

:dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow:

These leaks are all fixable and while its frustrating ( I have had my leaks too) its not so bad you should feel the truck is lost and sell it.

Front leak could also be the oil cooler line. That is up front as well. Is taking it back to Boomer too far from you?

FYI.....I have had my rear main seal changed, and oil cooler fitting deal replaced and I still have the same fricken leak. Yes its frustrating but like Stingray said, check your fluid levels then get it to a competent shop.

My latest idea to fix it is this crank case breather from Roe Racing.

Good luck.

I had the power steering pump and fan go bad on mine. It let a little fluid boil out. It got all over the underside of my truck by the tranny and also in the air dams. I could tell a problem with the steering, and there was a whine. The pumps are prone to failure as I have been told. I have no idea whether or not this is your problem just something else to check.

Check your radiator cap. I had a leak and traced it back to the cap only being turned to the first snap. All I had to do was push down on the cap and turn it to it's fully closed position. Hope it's that simple for you.

Well went out and checked everything this morning.....all caps are tight and sealed well.....antifreeze is green not red.....power steering seems fine (fluid level and all).....most of the leak is around the tranny---maybe time for an upgraded tranny:D :dontknow: . I really need to get it up on a lift, cause my 255 ass can't fit under the lowered truck:( . Thanks for all your help.....I'll keep you all informed....thanks for your understanding.....bikertat

Ok I need some help here......Does anyone know of someone (reliable) around the east-central Illinois area who can help me with my problems. I don't know much about this stuff but here we go: I believe the rear seal is leaking on my tranny.....I have lost alot of fluid in the last couple of months (all added up). Everytime I take the truck out and it sits there I can look under the truck and see about a quarter size spot of fluid..The fluid is a thick clearish jel substance......now I noticed the other day that I am spraying, what I would think would be tranny fluid, all over the inside of the front airdam (it is a reddish color). I'm also spraying oil from somewhere....it is only on the passenger side of the intake and all over the supercharger....I NEED SOME HELP---Sorry but this is pissing me off!!! I put alot of money into the truck and all these leaks????? I really would like to get this problem fixed as soon as possible---don't want to burn something up......PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks bikertat
the intake temp isnt that high. check the water level in the aftercooler, just remove the cap and look inside, with the key turned on, check that the water is circulating. the coolant inthe aftercooler is orange so you could be seeing that-or the red fluid is powersteering, its either new or residual when you and your buddy replaced the lines on your powersteering rack.

the clear/yellow might be tranny fluid, the rear seal is prone to leaking on these trucks, its not a big deal to swap out the seal.
i have been in california since last week.just got in yesterday.
you can bring out down next week sometime if that works for you.
dont sweat it man, its just small stuff, i can have fixed in not time. i just called your work, cell, and house-call me and we can get it fixed asap for you, no problem,

Hey Boom whats up......I was just worried about driving it down there with this leak....it has leaked quit a bit of fluid.....I know we have talked about getting it down there, but both our schedules are tight.....just looking for someone close by from the forum to take a look at it to see if that is what it is.....you know how dumb I am on these things:D ......and by the way if someone is reading this and thinking that I am dogging Boomer---that is not it at all.....I think the world of Boomer and everyone who knows me or read some of the things I have wrote about him knows that.....Boomer has already said he would fix the tranny problem for me, its just we both are very busy and it is hard for us to find a time to get the truck down to his shop. And I was just thinking if someone was close by from the forum they could check it out and let me know if it would be okay to drive it to him......Trust me....no one will touch my truck besides Boomer or someone he okays.
I just want to thank everyone for their input----it really comes in handy to have great guys like you all to chime in and help out.......the only thing I can do is put air in the tires:D

Now thats an honest statement. I like that Bikertat.

I have learned most of my engine/truck knowledge via this forum.

Just got off the phone with Boomer.......We finally caught up with each-other:D . He walked my illiterate ass through the truck:D . I'm pretty confidant that it is a seal leaking.....which we are fixing on tuesday. The oil issue: we believe may be coming from the filter on the intercooler. Which we will be fixing on tuesday too. And the "red fluid" we believe is residual from something that was from the truck when it was stock. But regaurdless it all will be fixed on tuesday.
Also I want to mention again that this thread was not started to make Boomer look bad. To make "it look like he wasn't going to fix it". I started it out of fraustration---basically out of my own ignorance. I also started it because I was hoping to get someone close by maybe to stop and look at it with me. Their is no one in town that I can trust to look at it....hell the stealership didn't even know how many quarts of oil went in the truck--seriously. I asked Boomer if I offended him by starting this thread and he said "no", but I think I may have a 'lil. I want to publically apologize---although it isn't and wasn't my intention.
Reguardless, the truck will be fixed on tuesday and I'll still be just as illiterate about my truck:D . So while this being said......I will be in evansville on tuesday if anyone is in the area and would like to meet up for lunch or such....And thanks boomer for all your help and everyone else. :star:

Same with me. Most the info I pass on to other people is by what I have read, not what I have done. I need to put in my new T-stat that has been sitting at the foot of my bed for 4 months, but still aren't too sure how to do it.

If it makes you feel any better I never got a bad vibe from this thread. I just thought you had some leaking from your truck and needed some help. I didn't read any boomer bashing. So don't sweat it!!

No need to appologize man, you did nothing wrong. We all get like that sometimes. And we all know how much of a standup guy Gary is. Glad to hear that you will be getting it all taking care of next tuesday.
